Die Kommunikation zwischen Unternehmen und Analysten findet unter anderem auch über Conference Calls statt. Conference Calls geben den Unternehmen die Möglichkeit Informationen zu präsentieren und die Analysten haben anschließend die Gelegenheit Fragen direkt an die Repräsentanten des Unternehmens zu richten. Inhalte dieser Conference Calls werden seit einiger Zeit in so genannten Transcripts aufgezeichnet. Das Besondere dieser Transcripts ist, dass sie die zweiseitig gerichtete Kommunikation zwischen den Unternehmen und Analysten erfassen und dass diese wortwörtlich aufgezeichnet werden. Zu den auswertbaren Informationen zählen Teilnehmeranzahl der Unternehmen und Analysten, Dauer der Conference Calls, Inhalte im Präsentations- und Diskussionsteil der Conference Calls, Zusammenhang zwischen der Dauer oder des Inhaltes der Conference Calls und vergangener Performance auf dem Kapitalmarkt, etc. Das Ergebnis dieser Studie zeigt, dass wesentliche Themen während der Conference Calls zur Sprache kommen. Des Weiteren konnte zum einen ein Zusammenhang zwischen der Dauer der Conference Calls und Unternehmensperformance festgestellt werden. Zum anderen konnte eine Korrelation zwischen inhaltlicher Orientierung von Conference Calls und Unternehmensperformance aufgezeigt werden. Das größte Problem, dem der Autor gegenüberstand, war die Auswertung der Transcripts. Aufgrund ihrer Beschaffenheit konnten sie nicht mit herkömmlichen Analysewerkzeugen, sprich Tabellenkalkulationsprogrammen oder Statistikprogrammen, ausgewertet werden. Zum Zeitpunkt der Ausarbeitung dieser Studie war auch keine Software auf dem Markt erhältlich, die dem Autor bei seinem Vorhaben unterstützten konnte. Die Programmierung einer eigenen Software zur Aufbereitung der Transcripts und zur Herausfilterung von Informationen stellt die Besonderheit dieser Studie dar. Nur aufgrund dieser Software waren die hier in dieser Studie behandelten Analysen möglich.
About the Author: Bum-Seok Kim hat Betriebswirtschaftslehre mit dem Schwerpunkt Finanzen in Frankfurt am Main studiert. Der Schwerpunkt seiner Studien lag hauptsächlich auf dem Verstehen der Funktionsweise von Kapitalmärkten. Dieses Studium gepaart mit der Affinität zur Softwareentwicklung war die geeignete Basis für die Ausarbeitung dieses Themas. Eben auch aufgrund des Ergebnisses dieser Studie konnte der Autor eine Einstellung in der Softwareentwicklungsabteilung einer renommierten Unternehmensberatung bekommen.
