El volumen que ahora se suma a la colección, contiene dos cuentos, solamente. Son cuentos largos en comparación con los incluidos en los libros anteriores; tanto es así, que han armado el libro. Pero no es este motivo que les excluye de aquéllos. Los aquí reunidos pedían un espacio propio que no recae en la extensión, sino en la temática. Ambas narraciones conforman un referente de la verdad cubana en dos de las más representativas acepciones del daño; la infancia y el comportamiento de la mente humana. El primero de estos cuentos, Comparsa Siniestra, trata la historia de un niño que vivió parte de su infancia antes del llamado proceso revolucionario y luego el proceso en pleno. La trama es una conceptuación de esa narrativa puesta en boca de ese niño, adulto al momento de narrarlo, que va creciendo y con el transcurso del tiempo, sumadas las circunstancias acarreadas desde los días del ascenso de los barbudos a la Sierra Maestra hasta su invasión, no sólo en las calles de La Habana, sino en la vida de los ciudadanos, hecho que recayó de inmediato en el sojuzgamiento de sus mentes, el jovencito ha derivado en fusión de la terrible realidad que enfrenta el pueblo, con sus visiones personales. La naturaleza de la historia puede catalogarse algo surrealista; sin embargo, es la realidad de este niño, una que puedo atestiguar porque es además mi propia realidad. Comparsa Siniestra, es un ejemplo de cuanto puede influir una situación adversamente poderosa, en la vida de un ser humano en su etapa primera, y es esta narración también, la primera parte del volumen. La naturaleza del segundo cuento, Disyuntiva, es la realidad cruda, como también lo es en la historia que le antecede, a pesar de que las proposiciones puedan valorarse como surrealistas en la primera. En esta narración, que ocupa la segunda parte del libro, la historia se da por medio de un diálogo, a veces interactivo, la mayoría de ellas especulativo, siempre entre la adolescente que protagoniza la historia y ese padre a quien ella interpela en todo momento de su vida. La joven se reconoce atrapada en una realidad que no le corresponde y que de ninguna manera está dispuesta a aceptar. El padre es en apariencia un hombre persuadido por los métodos de coacción del régimen y un instrumento más del miedo propio como semilla que germina en terreno fértil. Los supuestos desatinos de la muchacha, Cecilia, otra Cecilia en tiempo revolucionario, en una Cuba en que cualquier manifestación en desacuerdo con el régimen imperante puede ser severamente castigada, son catalogados como manifestaciones de demencia, y es de esta manera que la joven atraviesa un camino completamente falseado por la inclemencia de las circunstancias que le son sumamente adversas y llegan a afectar de manera terrible su vida.
