About the Author: David B. Oppenheimer is a Clinical Professor of Law at the University of California, Berkeley School of Law. He is the author of several books and many scholarly articles on discrimination law, affirmative action, and civil rights history, and is a co-author of the award-winning White-Washing Race: The Myth of a Color-Blind Society. Professor Oppenheimer founded and coordinates the Berkeley Comparative Equality and Anti-Discrimination Law study group. Sheila R. Foster is a Professor of Law and Public Policy at Georgetown University. Her work explores the interaction of equality norms and property, land use and environmental law. She has taught and conducted research around the world using a comparative framework to examine issues of equality in urban development and environmental policy. Sora Y. Han is Associate Professor of Criminology, Law & Society at School of Law at the University of California, Irvine. She also is core faculty of the Culture and theory Ph.D. program. Her first book, Letters of the Law (Stanford University Press 2015), covers new readings of American law's landmark decisions on race and civil rights. Her more recent work explores contract law and philosophy, poetics, and contemporary theories of colonialism and slavery. Richard T. Ford is the George E. Osborne Professor of Law at Stanford Law. He is an expert on civil rights and anti-discrimination law. His scholarship combines social criticism and legal analysis and he writes for both popular readers and for academic and legal specialists. His work has focused on the social and legal conficts surrounding claims of discrimination, on the causes and effects of racial segregation, and on the use of territorial boundaries as instruments of social regulation.
