This 170 page visual diary is a fun daily planner based on the book "How to Draw Anatomy for Comics" by Stan Bendis Kutcher.
✔ Plan your school day or homework with the theme of comic art to inspire your drawings. Or as adults, dot down your appointments and take a break to do a quick sketch. Even though mainly targeted to school going teenagers, some students and adults may have just as much fun going through the workbook with us.
The intention of this diary is not so much as to teach readers "how to draw", but rather "to draw". Included are some useful weekly and daily exercise steps to keep practicing . It is recommended not to skip any of the drawing exercises, as a large focus of this diary is to inspire the discipline to draw as often as possible. The intent is not as much on technique as it is on getting your eyes to become "visually aware" and your drawing hand to become "more steady".
These exercises are divided into three categories:
① Study the Drawing > Complete the Drawing.
Readers should try and copy or complete the drawing at hand. Some exercises may require you to practice your penciling whilst others will focus practicing inks, with both areas focusing on the skill of learning to work from reference as well as how other artists approach drawing.
② Draw a Doodle.
"Doodling" or "scribbling" in the panels provided will be a good exercise to practice your visual awareness and drawing hand. It may be worth drawing loosely in pencil, and perhaps enhancing, inking or coloring your sketch thereafter. Here it is free reign on what you do. The idea is to keep record or a visual diary of what's happening in your life in that period of time. Doing a simple drawing can reflect a lot that's going on around you. Learn to say a lot with as few lines or strokes as possible. A good exercise to learn restraint. It may be fun to look at this diary years later in your life to see how you have progressed.
③ Speak Life.
This diary is intended to motivate you, but also to inspire you and teach you to motivate yourself. Words have power and merely saying or writing positive things, will direct your life into those positive realities. In the speech balloons try to write something positive, but then also include a drawing to go with your script.
Also included are monthly devotionals as well as regular daily bible verses to inspire you internally. If your inside is healthy, you should be far more motivated to draw and improve your skills through regular practice. Try to find the balance between discipline and fun.
