We all know a good relationship is built on good communication. So it makes sense that talking with God is a great way to deepen your spiritual relationship. But how do you have a conversation with God? How do you even know when he's speaking to you?
Come Closer, the latest devotional guide by Tammy Koenecke, RN, BSN, MASL, invites you to listen in on her personal exchanges with God and then encourages you to begin your own dialogue by reflecting on questions, such as:
- In what ways does God direct my daily life?
- How can I be better prepared for the storms in life?
- How will using the lens of my heart open me to the experiences of others?
- How does God want me to be his voice to others?
A great companion to Koenecke's first book, Opening to God's Messages, this new guide offers hopeful messages of God's love, along with spiritual-growth activities tied to the seasons of the year and a collection of inspirational chants that can inform your praises and prayers, with encouraging lyrics, such as:
"Deep beneath the earth lies a seed awaiting new growth / Deep within my heart lies a seed awaiting new growth."
About the Author: Tammy Koenecke, RN, BSN, MASL, is passionate about her relationship with God and encouraging everyone she encounters. A registered nurse since 1989, she went on to earn a bachelor's degree in nursing in 2000, which is also when she began working in spiritual care. In 2008, she graduated with a master's degree in servant leadership. Much of Koenecke's work centers on crisis, including end-of-life care and bereavement, which she considers deeply sacred experiences. She also leads spiritual health and wellness activities at her hospital and in her community.
When she started writing monthly spirit-led reflections in 2001, Koenecke had no idea they'd eventually prompt her to write two books: first, Opening to God's Messages, and now, Come Closer. Koenecke's greatest aim is to inspire the people around her to deepen their relationship with God.
She is blessed with a loving husband, two sons, two daughter-in-laws, and four grandchildren.
