About the Author:

April McCallum is an illustrator, writer and cartoonist. She intermingles words and visuals, color and design, inspiration and humor to bring her unique brand and positive creativity to the world. Hand-drawn "heart art" infused with light, love and smiles. She was born and raised in southern California where she retired from a successful career in the high-tech industry. She now enjoys a full-time creative life.

Her writing and illustration work is inspirational, hope-filled and empowering. While her cartoonist side brings humor with a unique twist to the table. Her artwork has been licensed for business and non-profits; and printed on a variety of gift products. She's also participated in international art exhibits that raise funds for worthy causes. Her work has appeared in a number of mainstream magazines and other publications, as cover art, and was featured on CNBC.

In addition to a wide range of illustration and cartooning topics, April has long been an "advocacy artist" designing creative pieces that interweave words and visuals to speak to issues close to her heart. Current topics include: Empowering Women, Adoption, Violence Against Women, and Breast Cancer Awareness.

"Whether I'm writing, cartooning, drawing, crafting or painting, I love playing with words, pictures and a variety of materials and colors. I quite willingly get lost in the creative process and brainstorming ideas. Patterns, texture, design, stringing words together, playing with color, finding humor in unexpected places, all of it! My passion is to uniquely communicate, inspire and stimulate hearts and minds through ideas, humor and wonder. I believe art speaks."

April was born in Santa Monica, California, transplanted in the Pacific Northwest and replanted in Northwest Arkansas where she lives (and blooms) with her amazing husband and ridiculously adorable dog, Oliver.
