About the Book

This is the third book in the Jake Lowry Mystery Series. All three novels are set in the Coeur d'Alene and Silver Valley, Idaho region. Jake Lowry and his partner, Detective Bruce David are awakened in the middle of the night to respond to a dead body leaning against the wall of Ken Kunkle's former house. The victim has been murdered by having an awl plunged into his heart. The victim, Dr. Lawrence Matile, was the former employer for Nora Wallace. The term 'Coeur d'Alene' was crafted by the French Traders when they met the local indians. The French said they had trading skills as hard as the heart of an awl. Over time this expression has come to mean 'Awl through the Heart.' The second victim murdered in the same manner had a note signed with Chinese writing. The signature on the note translates to 'White Devil.' A mysterious killer or killers are now stalking anyone involved in the Ken Kunkler murder investigation. Jake and David call for the assistance of Inspector Robbie Forbes in Whitley Bay, England and Sergeant Ammo Vecchio of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police in Kamloops, Canada to help solve this mystery.
About the Author: I have lived a very interesting and adrenaline filled life. My first thirteen years of professional life were served as a Survival, Evasion, Resistance, Escape (S.E.R.E.) Specialist. I served at the main USAF School in Reno, NV and Spokane, WA. I also commanded my own schools in Thailand, Germany, and New Jersey. While in Reno, I was honored to be selected to provide training in Survival for the Mercury and Gemini Astronauts. At Fairchild AFB, I taught the initial Apollo Astronauts. While in Reno, I also worked as a stagehand part time and became the # 2 Elephant Trainer/Handler at John Ascuaga's Nugget. Realizing that I was getting a little long in the tooth to jump out of airplanes, I became a Special Agent in the Office of Special Investigations. I served as Team Leader of the Narcotics Interdiction Team at Cam Rahn Bay, Vietnam. Upon completion of my tour there, I transferred to Germany and was the Commander of the Narcotics Team for Western Germany, Holland, Luxembourg, Austria and West Berlin. I returned to California and retired on March 31, 1976. On April 1, I entered Civilian Law Enforcement as a Narcotics Inspector for the Bureau of Narcotic Enforcement. In 84, I returned to my SERE roots to serve in Saudi Arabia training the Royal Saudi and Jordanian Air Forces in Desert and Sea Survival. In 85, I returned to the U.S. and back to Law Enforcement. I served with Vacaville and Oakland, CA Police Departments until 99. In 99, I was selected to assist in the opening of the "New Democratic Police Academy" in Kosovo. I returned to Kosovo in 2000 to serve as the Commander of Investigations in Rahovec, Kosovo. I returned to Idaho and joined the Fort Sherman Academy as a consultant and instructor. Fort Sherman teaches "Personal Safety" to persons who are at risk while traveling or living abroad. In 2004 I was selected to join the Jordan International Police Training Course in Amman, Jordan. Our mission for the U.S. Department of State was to train Iraqi Police Officers in the fundamentals of "Democratic Law Enforcement." I'm now home in Idaho and again a member of the Fort Sherman Academy, where I teach on a part-time basis. "Adrenaline Junky" is an apt term for my life. I hope I have not bored you with too much detail. I also hope you enjoy: "THE TANNING BED MURDERS", "THE SEARCH FOR NORA WALLACE." And "THE COEUR d'ALENE MURDERS." Any question that you may have, I would be delighted to answer. My primary email contact is through: cop2tor@hotmail.com.
