Celina has just graduated high school, and her mom insists she finds a summer job. She's not the most social or outgoing teenager due to her social anxiety and heavy stutter. No matter, her mother applies on her behalf at the local indoor waterpark, and Celina finds herself trudging up the entrance pathway to her first day on the job. The doors open to reveal a noisy, tropical oasis and a callous manager, both of which are going to provide a full summer of challenges for this introverted girl-who can't swim.
Meanwhile, Cornelius the cockroach is battling his own challenges. Humans have removed the waterpark plants, and he's on the brink of starvation. So he sets out on a journey to the opposite end of the waterpark in search of food and a new home. What he discovers is that his sole chance of survival lies with the approval of the militant cockroach leader, The General.
These two good-natured characters navigate similar obstacles as they both try to survive life within the walls of one giant indoor waterpark. It's a story of friendship, survival, and breaking out of one's shell in a world that doesn't always make sense.
About the Author: Since graduating from high school, thom has worked a series of dead-end jobs that have resulted in unemployment. One of these was at a large, indoor waterpark, where he was once deemed Employee of the Month. His experiences at this job provided the inspiration for Cockroach Waterpark, which he wrote in a spider-infested apartment, featuring a leaky ceiling and a bathroom lodging permanent ant residents.
When he's not writing, thom enjoys listening to the musical stylings of Beethoven, playing Minecraft, and studying Japanese. He is currently designing a smartphone game, though he's never actually owned a smartphone-a fact he insists is not as contradictory as it seems.
