En Los cimientos: La Contra[R]evolución Española (1931-1936), nos sumergiremos en la explosión del deporte obrero en la Barcelona de la primera mitad de los años treinta. Pondremos el foco en el papel desempeñado por la Komintern en su expansión, resiguiendo las redes tejidas por el espionaje soviético, rastreando el rol jugado en este proceso por un grupo de inmigrantes húngaros que, actuando como agentes encubiertos, resultaron claves en la implantación del relato comunista en el movimiento antifascista local.

De la mano de un joven Ramón Mercader del Río, futuro asesino de Trotski, nos sumergiremos en el emocionante e intrincado mundo de las juventudes comunistas. Seremos testigos de los enfrentamientos entre refugiados antifascistas y elementos nazis que operaban impunemente en la ciudad. Pondremos atención en las discrepancias internas del movimiento comunista, dividido ya en ese momento entre militantes revolucionarios y contrarrevolucionarios. Abordaremos los preparativos de la fallida Olimpiada Popular, centrándonos en el proceso de bolchevización sufrido por las entidades culturales-deportivas locales. Y concluiremos este primer volumen de la trilogía, repasando la vida de un personaje crucial en la preparación y difusión de la Olimpiada Popular: Josep Antoni Trabal, en aquel momento diputado de Esquerra Republicana de Catalunya (ERC) en las Cortes Generales.
