Chuang Tzü.Corrían tiempos difíciles en la China antigua, era la época de los reinos combatientes y los estados se enfrentaban entre sí por el dominio del imperio, pero a la vez que se hacía en el campo bélico, también ocurría lo mismo entre las diferentes ideologías existentes: Confucianismo, Moísmo y Taoísmo por prevalecer una sobre las demás, y en esta lucha la ventaja la llevaba la primera de ellas, atendiendo a la magistralidad mostrada por Confucio en vida, el practicismo típico de su contenido, y el talento y trabajo de sus discípulos, una vez muerto el maestro. Estos armados con sus doctrinas constituían un cuerpo temible que aplastaba a sus adversarios con la lógica materialista de sus planteamientos.Para la última de estas doctrinas: el taoímo, las cosas no iban bien, y desaparecido su maestro: Lao Tze, faltaban figuras intelectuales que pudiesen defender y propagar las ideas del Tao y refutar el cuerpo ideológico de sus contrarios, principalmente de los confucionistas. Fue en esta situación que surgió una figura de leyenda, dotada de todas las virtudes y la formación intelectual necesaria para liderar aquel movimiento de ideales puros y divinos, que conforman esta doctrina. El nombre de este héroe legendario era Chuang Tzü y su extraordinaria locuacidad, imaginación, razonamiento filosófico y literario, dio un vuelco a la situación, y con un maravilloso texto, para algunos la mejor obra literal y filosófica de la época clásica china (el Chuang Tzü) dejar constancia de lo mejor del taoísmo de una manera amena y controvertida, donde no hay límites entre la realidad y la ficción, entre lo lógico y lo irracional, y donde se maniobra con los seres animados e inanimados para trasmitir las ideas del Tao en su forma más pura y original..Tanto las Analectas de Confucio como el Tao Te Ching de Lao Tze, se quedan pequeñas ante el Chuang Tzü, que sin embargo, en la historia, no ha tenido la misma acogida que las anteriores, quizás por la magnitud de la misma, que puede hacer sentir a aquellos que inician su lectura algo así como un sentimiento entre el temor y el respeto, porque estamos frente ante un libro cuyo contenido linda entre lo histórico, lo filosófico, lo literal y lo poético, todo en un conjunto elaborado de forma magistral por la mente más brillante, liberal y audaz de la época, provista de una poderosa imaginación que lo llevó a plasmar en el texto todo un conjunto de alegorías, narraciones, fábulas y axiomas propios y originales, sin necesidad de acudir a los proverbios y dichos de la época.
