Most of the selections in both volumes have two arrangements: an easier arrangement with block chords, and a more advanced arrangement with broken chords, alberti bass, or counterpoint in the left hand. The simplest harmonizations possible (mostly I, IV, and V7 chords) are used throughout these books to make these songs accessible to late beginning through early intermediate piano players. I use these arrangements to train my own piano students to be able to recognize and execute chords and left hand figures that show up commonly in piano repertoire, while they get to work on music that makes them excited to do the work. Lyrics are appropriately included for convenience, for this book is meant to train piano skill - not to be a collection of singalong arrangements. If you are an absolute beginner and would like the easiest possible arrangements of Christmas music, I have published a book called Christmas Music for Beginning Piano that might be more suitable for your current level. When those start to become 'easy' for you, you will likely be ready for the arrangements in this book. That said, many beginning piano students do quite well in this book.
