About the Book

The fascinating story of the real Chicago political world that spawned President Obama and Rahm Emanuel. America's most corrupt city. The murder capitol of America where nineteen people get shot on a single summer evening. The city with the most jailed politicians in America. The vote fraud capitol of America. Illinois has two former governors in jail, right now! Chicago's population has shrunk by 1,000,000 residents! This is the real story about what is happening away from the impressive glitz. The Chicago political organization is filled with hangers on, nepotism, blatant corruption, vote fraud, corrupt justice, bribes, fixes and hear no evil, see no evil and speak no evil prosecutors. You can not make this stuff up any better. In Chicago, truth is stranger than fiction. Enough background: A reviewer described the book as "Forrest Gump meets the crooked Chicago political machine." This is a "true novel", that means it isn't really fiction. All we did was change the names to protect the guilty. This is the real story of life in Chicago outside the spectacular downtown. Chicago Police Detective Ross "Sunny" SunWarrior (a Comanche orphaned at a young age), a Special Forces Afghanistan veteran with a unique and checkered past teams with his partners Vlad Kozak and Harold Brookins to battle a gang war being subsidized and pushed to ever higher levels of violence by a Mexican drug cartel (this is actually happening right now as you read the story). As the battle continues they are immersed in obscene levels of real political corruption. It becomes ever more obvious the gangs are tied into the Chicago political establishment who are none too pleased to have Detective SunWarrior mucking around in the hidden, soft underbelly of their political power. The investigation approaches a deadly end at the intersection where Chicago street gangs, the Chicago political establishment, political correctness, political corruption and Operation Fast & Furious' deadly weapons converge at the same time. Sunny learns far more than he ever wanted to know about Chicago's political machine leaders and their chairman when he cooperates with a politically savvy gang leader to undermine the other gangs, lower the level of violence and frustrate the drug cartel. This is a real world story about how the other 2 million folks in Chicago live: Separated from the glitz, the Maginficent Mile, the beautiful lake front, the legendary restaurants and the world famous skyscrapers. This is Carl Sandburg's city of Big Shoulders with the real political warts. The investigation gets very personal when the cartel decides to target Sunny and his family to make them an example of what happens when you interfere with the drug cartel. It takes all of Sunny's skills, experience, special forces training and lots of luck to survive. As the investigation digs a little too deep, it becomes obvious there are issues far bigger than a bunch of street gang thugs selling drugs and killing each others. In Chicago the political leaders are involved in everything! In the blazing, action packed finale, with an ending no one will expect, Sunny faces the personal danger faced everyday by honest citizens left to fend for themselves in the blood soaked neighborhoods on the South Side of the city. Like the book, the finale is real Chicago, not a writer's imagination. This is not a novel as you think of them. This is real. In Chicago truth is stranger than fiction. Remember, all we did was change the names to protect the guilty.
About the Author: Do you want a real expert? Senator Roger Keats served in three different decades in America's legendarily most corrupt City and State. He served with two governors, 15 fellow legislators, 100+ judges and court personnel and countless government employeeswho ended up in jail. Chicago has 50 Aldermen and just during Keats' era, 32 have gone to jail! No one knows Illinois' corrupt politics and politicians any better. He has been honored by the Illinois Conservative Union and was an honoree for Black History Month in 2009. No one has been a more succcessful reformer, working with diverse groups and challenging the corrupt legislative leadership of both parties. As President Barack Obama's predecessor in the Senate said, "I'm not sure who hates Roger more, the Democrat or Republican leadership." Roger even acted as a "mole" to catch corrupt state employees. He is also a retired Army Lieutenant Colonel. After almost 40 years of fighting corruption in Illinois, Roger and his wife retired to The Hill Country of Texas where he continues the fight with Chicago Confidential.
