Mo Kirkland is the average teenager who, like most boys his age, struggles with self-confidence issues. He lives in Boulder Creek, Washington, a small, isolated mountain town that's famous for Bigfoot, a beast that Native American tribes refer to as Skookum. While Mo tries to navigate high school, he discovers that he has bigger problems, like crushing hard for a strange girl named Prophecy, who lives within a commune, cult-like group. When she suddenly vanishes, Mo learns that realistic monsters don't always hide in the woods. This romantic fiction thriller has it all, with a plot that's filled with drama, mystery, fantasy, suspense, love, adventure, and a surprising paranormal twist. This coming of age story is good for teens and young adults as it depicts a supernatural romance that's not steamy, with no inappropriate language. It's a contemporary novel that's a bit dark and edgy, as the small town in the book is about to become overrun by law breaking drug dealers. A criminal courtroom trial, bullying, and death make this a best modern read for today's time.
