About the Book

Lovington's Territorial Bank is robbed by the notorious Red Buck Gang who shoot their way out of town abducting two prostitutes. Marshal Charlie Pruit tries to form a posse to go after them but the only man willing to volunteer is a former slave, Addison Jones. The lawmen follow the trail of the murderous gang across the Llano Estacado into the mountains of New Mexico, encountering a mystical figure and the richness of Hispanic culture in early New Mexico.
About the Author: Chuck is the grandson of legendary Frontier Marshall Charlie Pruit. Charlie was the Lovington New Mexico Marshal beginning in 1913 and served in law enforcement until 1943. Chuck has lived in New Mexico most of his life. He is a graduate of Western New Mexico University with a degree in business administration. Chuck and his wife lived in the Mimbres Valley at the foot of Emory Pass in the Black Range Mountains of Southwestern New Mexico where they raised registered Black Angus cattle and registered Paint horses. He enjoys anything western: cowboys, horses, cowgirls, black angus cattle and New Mexico sunrises and sunsets. A serial entrepreneur he owned several businesses in his career. His Mother's family came to New Mexico from Montague County, Texas after the Civil War and arrived in Lea County, New Mexico in the 1880's. He and his wife, Kathy, raised three sons and lived in Silver City for many years. They realized a dream in 1989 when they purchased land in the Mimbres River Valley East of Silver City. There they raised registered black angus cattle and registered paint horses, grazing them on irrigated pastures of lush fescue grass. All along the Mimbres River there are many ruins of the indigenous Native American people who lived there some seven hundred years ago. Chuck and Kathy have lived in Las Cruces for almost twenty years where two of their sons and grandchildren live.
