About the Book

English summary: At a time when science claims and believes that it can answer, according to the Vulgate of the Astrophysicists, humanity's eternal questions (Where do we come from? or Where are we going ?)-the "Big Bang" as the beginning, and the death of the sun as the end-this is the perfect opportunity to profit from Reynal Sorel's insights in this intellectually challenging and dense little book. In exploring the two major sections, Chaos and Eternity (what "to be," "to be born," and "not to be" may signify)-in other words, the beginning, the future and the end referred to by pre-Socratic philosophers and cosmogonic Greek myths-the author specifically shows that the hypothesis of an ex nihilo creation was totally incomprehensible in ancient Greek philosophy.
