About the Book

SECONDA EDIZIONE (2022).

SECOND EDITION (2022). Probably inspired by brilliant figures of the Florentine Renaissance such as Leon Battista Alberti and Paolo dal Pozzo Toscanelli, obscured by the passing of the centuries, the fresco of the Old Sacristy of San Lorenzo re-emerges in its artistic elegance also revealing a precise astronomical and astrological design inserted in the framework of the extraordinary events that were marking the history of the city. With Byzantium under the Turkish threat and the attempt in extremis to rediscover unity between the Orthodox and Roman Churches, Florence became in those years, thanks to the Council of 1439, the meeting point of the greatest exponents of Christianity of East and West. Together with them, philosophers, theologians, philologists, scientists and artists from multiple backgrounds animated meetings and discussions in the exciting and fruitful rediscovery of the ancient common origin of cultures, scientific, philosophical, spiritual heritages long separated and little known. From the planetary positions depicted in the fresco, the narration connects to a heritage of symbols, myths and spirituality that project the Florence of that time, immersed in an atmosphere of fervent expectation of unification and spiritual renewal, in fairy-tale remote and timeless worlds.
