La Censura es una imposición ejecutada por personas que ejercen poder sobre otros. Dependerá de muchos factores para que la Censura suceda. El nivel cultural, educación, consciencia democrática, libertad participativa lograda en cada sociedad, incluso hasta la riqueza de cada país puede ser un factor determinante, o por el contrario, la pobreza de cada nación. El elemento personal de los censores, también cumplirá un rol fundamental, tanto en el sentido psicológico como en el sentido emocional, de manera que alguien, por ejemplo, que hubiese sido maltratado por su padre, o reprimido o descalificado en su infancia, puede adquirir ciertos resentimientos hacia aquellos que son libres y trabajan para ello. De cualquier modo la Censura existe en pleno 2015 y tiene diferentes disfraces para lograr la prohibición, o anulación de los mensajes que intentan decir algo más que el discurso oficial, o del gobernante de turno. Por ello se debe considerar un acto de Censura aquel que impide bajo cualquier forma y manera que la comunicación sea coartada, mutilada o llanamente censurada a partir de su emisión, en su recorrido o al final del proceso comunicativo. Por eso, la Censura puede lograrse de muchas formas, por ejemplo incrementando el precio del papel prensa. Imponiendo una lengua en una región determinada de forma que quien no la ha estudiado quede relegado a la marginación idiomática. Con avisos de trabajo discriminatorios. Bloqueando la conexión a internet. Reduciendo la publicidad oficial de determinados medios. Desacreditando a los medios opositores. Agrediendo a periodistas. Cancelando contratos establecidos, etc. Y la forma más burda y directa como en toda dictadura, acusando de enemigos del pueblo y clausurando los medios.
