The hard-hitting facts of the author's upbringing and the effect it has had on her throughout her early life and into adulthood.
The book is about three generations of the same family: grandfather, daughter and granddaughter and covers their story which starts in America and makes the transatlantic journey to the United Kingdom, using India as a steppingstone.
They have each had very different lives for individual reasons; some of their circumstances have caused them to be the way that they are as people, both then but also now.
Firstly, there is the author's maternal grandfather, and this part is set at the end of the 19th century moving into the 20th. He is the first generation and was a criminal, but additionally an imposter, a fraudster, a thief, an embezzler, and a liar. Strong charges, without a doubt. But, as this book will show, in-depth research into the author's family history by her and her husband, over a long period of time, has unfortunately proven every one of these accusations to be fact.
The second part of the book introduces the reader to Miss Y who is the daughter of the author's grandfather. She is also a criminal but in addition, she is a cheat and compulsive liar. Miss Y represents the second generation with her part of the story based in the UK and mainly set in the 1950s onwards.
The author is the granddaughter and the final character of the three in this book, and she has reversed the criminal traits of the first two generations. All is not as it seems on the surface with this family, and as this book progresses, to the third part with its very dark side and the extreme raw effect that this has had on her life for many, many decades continue to haunt her. This will never simply go away, and the effects of the evil cannot be erased.
The facts in this book are based on real people and their real lives. However, for privacy reasons, their names and identities have been changed whenever possible. The places named do refer to actual locations which have also been changed to ensure the book gives a true flavour from a geographical perspective of where the main characters were living during particular time periods.
It has been excruciatingly painful and traumatic for the author to narrate her experiences, but she sincerely hopes that it will help other people who may have suffered similar actions.
She is not a victim... she is a survivor.
