Quali sue cause remote o morali riconosciamo la curiosità non saggiamente frenata e la superbia. I modernisti, inoltre, devono i loro inganni ed orpelli alla totale ignoranza della filosofia scolastica. Per trarre in inganno gli animi essi usano una doppia tattica. Deridono, disprezzano ed emarginano i sapienti; infine si dedicano con zelo, apertamente o dietro sofismi, alla lotta accanita contro la Religione di Gesù Cristo. Nondimeno i modernisti sanno essere anche adulatori ed attenti al rispetto umano. Essi agitano i loro consigli di distruzione dentro la Chiesa, il pericolo si appiatta quasi nelle vene stesse e nelle viscere di lei. L'indizio più manifesto per riconoscere un modernista è la smania di novità. Il modernista va contro il Magistero, contro la Tradizione, contro la storia. I veri cattolici sono fatti segno dai modernisti di somma malevolenza e di livore. In questo volume il Padre Jean Baptiste Lemius (1851 - 1938), Oblato di Maria Immacolata, usando la Pascendi dominici gregis di Papa San Pio X, illustra ai semplici il Modernismo, ne evidenzia i pericoli ed indica i rimedi. Un Catechismo sul Modernismo composto da 510 articoli nella forma di domanda e risposta, introdotto dal Card. Merry del Val, benedetto dal Pontefice e dalla Santa Chiesa. Si tratta di un antidoto necessario per sopravvivere alle tante cattedre di pestilenza che inculcano le loro dottrine demolitrici nelle chiese, nei congressi, nei libri, nella società. L'uso irresponsabile di internet ha di molto peggiorato la situazione. Nel XX° secolo la gran parte dei protagonisti del Modernismo, molti già condannati dalla Chiesa, furono sorprendentemente elevati a "padri" e "dottori" in seno alla rivoluzione del Vaticano Secondo.
