About the Book
TO BE CALLED A FRIENDShame and regret have been life companions. I sense their shadows constantly. Over and over I have tried to shake them. From their bondage, will I ever be free? Who am I that You should acknowledge me? Who am I that You should show me favor? You have given me entrance into Your family; given living water, daily bread and a Savior. I can never repay the gifts You've given, nor return an equal love. I can only watch in wonder, await eternity and stand in awe of Your gifts from above! First, it was Enoch, then Abraham, Moses, Elijah and David. How have I been adopted among such pedigree, the one that includes my Savior? To us, You have given the right to be the sons of God, redeemed and made clean, this is true. But, I stand here before You, only mortal, unable to earn a companion like You! With all Your benefits there is one that I covet, for this, I would sacrifice. To have You speak the words I would love to hear, my hands empty, holding no vice! "You've done well with my unmerited favor, the reason I visited man long ago. My sacrifice was well worth this moment; My image, I've trusted you to show. Come up now, just a little higher, let Me place My gentle arms around you. This space I saved to be special, for the ones I call friend, just like you!"
