About the Book

In der Studie wurde erstmalig Burnout im Ubergang vom Studium in das Berufsleben erforscht. Als theoretische Grundlagen dienten ein recht neues Modell von Shirom und Hobfoll (1993, 2000) sowie Hobfoll und Buchwald (2004)und das Burnoutmodell von Maslach und Jackson (1981, 1986). Burnout wurde als Entwicklungsprozess von Emotionaler Erschopfung, Depersonalisierung und Reduzierte Leistungsfahigkeit und als Verlustspirale definiert, die durch nicht adaquates Copingverhalten entsteht. Arbeitsplatzmerkmale (Schuler, Kollegen, materielle Ausstattung, Arbeit und Betreuung im Seminar) und Personlichkeitsmerkmale (Selbstwirksamkeit, Hilflosigkeit, Leistungsmotivation, soziale Unterstutzung, Coping) wurden als Burnoutursache untersucht. Eine Langsschnittstudie mit drei Messzeitpunkten wurde durchgefuhrt. Im Abstand von circa einem halben Jahr wurden unterschiedliche Ausbildungsabschnitte und -schwerpunkte erforscht. Insgesamt nahmen 146 LehramtsanwarterInnen aus den Seminaren Monchengladbach, Kleve und Duisburg teil. Burnout trat bei den LehramtsanwarterInnen bereits kurz nach Eintritt in die Referendarzeit auf. Alle drei Burnoutdimensionen waren zum ersten Messzeitpunkt messbar. Ein betrachtlicher Anteil der LehramtsanwarterInnen war sogar stark von Burnout betroffen. Burnout entwickelte sich schnell weiter. Diese Probanden befanden sich in einem Burnoutentwicklungsprozess der mit Emotionaler Erschopfung begann, gefolgt von Depersonalisierung und Reduzierter Leistungsfahigkeit. Die Langsschnittergebnisse zeigten fur Emotionale Erschopfung und Depersonalisierung einen kontinuierlichen, statistisch signifikanten Anstieg uber die Zeit. Bei Reduzierter Leistungsfahigkeit war zunachst ein signifikanter Anstieg, dann aber ein Absinken des Mittelwertes zu beobachten. Diese Entwicklung war in Anbetracht der Prufungsvorbereitungen zum 2. Staatsexamen erklarbar. Selbstwirksamkeit, Hilflosigkeit, vermeidende und aggressiv-antisoziale Copingstrategien nahmen erheblichen Einfluss auf die Burnoutentwicklung. Dieser Einfluss nahm mit steigendem Burnout signifikant zu, was wiederum zu einem verstarkten Einfluss auf die positive bzw. negative Auspragung eben dieser Variablen fuhrte. Diese reziproken Effekte sprechen fur eine Spiralentwicklung des Burnouts, wie es bei Hobfoll und Shirom (1999, 2000) und Hobfoll und Buchwald (2004) beschrieben wird. Ein Burnouttyp bei LehramtsanwarterInnen mit folgenden Merkmalen wurde gefunden: wenig Selbstwirksamkeit, hohe Hilflosigkeit, wenig Motivation, hohe Vermeidung und hohe Aggression. Dies Wissen kann in der Praxis die Diagnostik Burnoutgefahrdeter und ein fruhzeitiges Entgegenwirken ermoglichen. Soziale Unterstutzung wirkte als ein signifikanter Puffer gegen Burnout. Im privaten (Partner, Freunde, Verwandte) und beruflichen Bereich (andere LehramtsanwarterInnen, Seminarausbilder, Kollegen in der Schule) stand Burnout in Abhangigkeit zu einem positiven bzw. negativen sozialen Umfeld.
