Welcome to Puzzle Barn Press's fun and challenging Burning Hot 300 Puzzles - Futoshiki, Gokigen and Kakuro!
FUTOSHIKI Rules:
FUTOSHIKI puzzles are built on square grids. To solve them you must place numbers into the puzzle cells in such a way that each row and column contains each of the digits less than the size of the puzzle. To give the solver a start, there will normally be several numbers already in the puzzle. In addition, a few pairs of adjacent cells will have symbols inserted between them to indicate the relative sizes of the numbers within those cells.
GOKIGEN Rules:
A GOKIGEN puzzle consists of a square or rectangular grid. Every cell in the grid must have a diagonal line inserted. The numbers at the corners of some of the cells indicates the number of diagonals which converge on that point. The diagonal lines must not form a loop of any size. Each puzzle has a unique solution which can be found without guessing.
KAKURO Rules:
A KAKURO puzzle is constructed on a crossword grid just like a standard crossword, but the digits 1 to 9 are used instead of the letters of the alpahabet. In a standard Kakuro puzzle, the Across and Down clues are simply the sums of the digits in the across and down words.
This is a beautiful set of high-intensity challenges, but note that the number puzzles rotate in difficulty on a 7-puzzle cycle.
