This book is a collection of my favourite short stories, drawn from
Buddhist and Zen Buddhist wisdom. Over the years they have helped
me at different times in my life. I trust that you will find them both meaningful and inspirational.
I love to read them whenever I'm seeking answers in my own life. I love
how they don't preach. They don't give you answers. Some barely even
make sense. Many are serious but at the same time profound. Some will
make you laugh, and they will all make you think. This is their teaching.
They teach that often what we need is not more information, more
guidance, and more practical advice about what to do. What we need is
to slow down and come to appreciate and enjoy the smaller, seemingly
insignificant things in life.
So when you read these short stories, be aware of the message, not the
messenger. Some of the stories here are accompanied by an invitation
to pause, reflect, and to allow your own wisdom and understanding to
awaken. These moments of going beyond the words and coming home to
presence are the gateway to all true healing and freedom.
