La fascinante historia del proceso de recuperación de Hispania bajo control musulmán desde el año 711. Desde los primeros gérmenes del reino Astur-Leonés y la expansión cristiana en el siglo XIII, hasta las Taifas, las Navas de Tolosa y la entrega final del reino nazarí de Granada a los Reyes Católicos en 1492. Una rigurosa y actualizada historia de los 800 años que definen el medievo peninsular.El año 711 marcará profundamente a la península ibérica. La concatenación de diversos factores que provocaron el caos en el reino visigodo, permitirá la invasión peninsular del creciente poder islámico al punto que en unos pocos años todo el territorio ibérico quedó bajo su control e incluso se adentraron en territorio franco. Los cristianos tan sólo lograron poner un mínimo de resistencia y reorganizarse en las montañas del norte (Cordillera Cantábrica y Pirineos) donde se crearán diversos núcleos gérmenes de los reinos medievales de Asturias-León y Navarra y los condados Portucalense, Castilla, Aragón y los condados catalanes. Estos núcleos cristianos, gracias a campañas militares decididas, lograron asentarse y prosperar aunque muy lentamente, especialmente el reino astur leónés, ya que Zaragoza suponía un freno muy importante para el desarrollo de los núcleos pirenaicos. Tras el momento de las campañas de Almanzor y la formación de los reinos de Taifas que supusieron la desmembración del califato, la balanza del poder cambió siendo la iniciativa ya propia de los reinos cristianos en detrimento de los taifas. Ni la ayuda de las tribus almorávides, almohades y benimerines supusieron un cambio sustancial en la situación. Los reinos cristianos siguieron ocupando plazas musulmanas especialmente en el siglo XIII, momento en que el que Castilla y León ocupa Andalucía, Portugal logra reconquistar el Algarve y Aragón puede incluso hacer operaciones anfibias y atacar las Baleares. Al final de dicho siglo sólo resistirá el reino nazarí de Granada. La Granada nazarí sobrevivirá doscientos años más, su configuración geográfica, su riqueza medida en el pago de parias (impuestos) a Castilla y la dinámica interna de la corona castellana envuelta en diversos conflictos explica en gran parte la persistencia de Granada. La llegada al trono de Castilla de Isabel I y su marido Fernando de Aragón marcará el fin. Los Reyes Católicos convertirán la conquista de Granada en uno de los principales ejes de su política y para ello pondrán todos los recursos de su reino. Granada se entregó un 3 de enero de 1492, casi ochocientos años después de la llegada de los musulmanes.

Fruto de su labor investigadora ha publicado más de 30 títulos de divulgación histórica de la Edad Media, periodo en el que está especializado.
