About the Book

Why do so many organisations just focus on improving their people's weaknesses?Imagine if Pele, the greatest goalscorer of all time had been chosen to be goalkeeper for the World Cup Final, just to give him a 'development opportunity'. It wouldn't have happened because sports teams play to everyone's strengths. It's not your fault, but it is your problem. You were educated in an outdated school system, built for the Industrial Revolution. It taught you to be compliant and well rounded, which worked for 150 years, but now that system's broken and another revolution is taking place.BREAKING GOOD explains how to succeed now you're needed to stop playing by the rules, and play to your strengths!
About the Author: Simon enables individuals, teams and organisations to play to their strengths. A change agent and transition specialist, he asks the tough questions and facilitates practical solutions in his quest to create an environment that encourages creativity and diversity, both at work and in the school system. During his round-the-world trip he took a consulting job in Australia in 1998 which saw a 23 year old backpacker presenting new ideas, strategies and solutions to Sales & Marketing Directors of global companies. Since then he has moved out of his shared travellers pad in Bondi (although still lives near the beach in a house full of people) and has been helping individuals and organisations identify their strengths and opportunities. With the imminent arrival of his first child Zara, Simon decided to found Sliding Doors and has since used his passion for strength based development to help people find out their strengths, secure meaningful roles, build effective teams, increase performance and boost morale. Simon has always been interested in numbers and people. His interest in Organisational Psychology was originally stirred by his tutor at Manchester University, Prof Cary Cooper CBE, and has been applied and developed ever since. His initiatives have benefited a wide range of industries including Manufacturing, Media, Finance, Government, Charity and Technology. The programs use the latest tools and scientific research and range from strategic vision or a simple strengths identification, through to career transition support after a re-structure. By embracing creativity, curiosity, diversity and humanity, Simon is able to use his own unique style and positive approach to bring together individuals and teams, whatever the situation. Simon is also the leadership coach at a top University and Business School, assisting MBA students to identify their strengths, and apply them to their studies and working lives. 'Simon Says' led the way as the first ever leadership blog app and can be found via iTunes or just visit the website to have a read: www.simondavie.com He's still a fan of Woking Football club despite being on the other side of the world, and learnt from a very early age how team's that don't play to their strengths can fail miserably, and also how easily things can be turned around.
