About the Book

"A terrible curse is upon us. Ancient. Evil. And I have been a coward, like so many before me."An Anasazi shaman lays dying on the floor of his rough kiva. He has learned a great secret. He now knows what the boy with no eyes sees. Trance-like, with newfound clarity and a terrible thirst for complete knowledge, he wills himself into the kiva of the people.Thomas Wilde is a wealthy man. He is burying a lost and dismembered son. The cold agony of guilt cloaks him and his body quivers in its embrace. The love and promise of his dear son is waste to his black heart. Greed ruled his life and killed his son.Albuquerque is a small city, 1964. Five fifth grade boys attending Catholic school encounter an ancient evil. Their world of friendship, adventure and freedom is lost when a club initiation in an abandoned house goes horribly wrong.Fifteen years after the initiation, Wayne, a survivor of that night, encounters a vengeful, returning spirit. A terrible reality of souls, possession, and desperate greed folds in around Wayne, who fears for his sanity. Braile House builds to a climax of terror. The lives and times all come together in a war for existence and escape. But what if there is no escape?
About the Author: I was born: ) To a Hispano mother and Anglo father. I grew up in Albuquerque when it was a smaller, more magical place. The easy mix of the Spanish, Mexican, Pueblo and Anglo cultures and peoples, made for a rich world to experience. Legends, stories and myths abounded with madmen, ghosts, shamans and spirits; all wrapped into a pervasive Catholicism. I enjoyed the freedom afforded young adventurous boys in the relative safety of the time and place. That childhood provided me with the optimism and energy that has been with me all my life. I drew much from that time and place for Braile House. I live in Mexico City with mi amor y luz, Mirna. I travel frequently to Colorado spending time with my four children and two grandchildren. I get back to New Mexico whenever I can. I miss the people there and the food. I miss the cool nights and the crisp mornings. I miss hiking up the 10,500 feet of the Sandia Crest on the east edge of Albuquerque, then sitting at the top to watch one of the world's greatest sunsets. Braile House is my first novel. I am now working on my next, Cavete Deamonis. Life is Good.
