THE BRADFORD CALLINGWhen six-year-old Matthew dies, his parents are unaware that he can see them from Heaven, and when seventy-eight-year-old Dora dies, her nephew has no idea that his previously confused and arthritic Aunt is now climbing trees in Heaven.
Set in Britain, America, Brazil and Russia, this touching book opens a window onto the lives of very ordinary people to reveal the normally unseen backdrop of angels, demons, Heaven and Hell.
Inspired by what the Bible reveals about life, death and what comes next, The Bradford Calling ties together the stories of average people around the world who have suffered the death of a loved one as they begin to discover new hope and purpose. Still struggling with loss, each of them become inspired by the surprising deeds of a small group of Christians in Bradford after news breaks that Philadelphia has been attacked by terrorists. None of them are aware of their own significance, nor the great worth of their deeds as an epic plan of Heaven's design is woven between threads of suffering and loss.
Nearly all of us at some point in our lives ask big questions like...- Is Heaven real?
- What is Heaven like?
- Is there life after death?
- What are angels like?
- What do angels do?
- Does God love me?
- Is Hell real?
- Why is there suffering in the world?
- Does God answer prayer?
- Does everyone go to Heaven?
- Do I matter to God?
- What is my purpose in life?
The Bradford Calling doesn't claim to answer these questions, but it explores them in story form, inspired by what the Bible reveals about them.
This is a hopeful, sometimes funny and warmly written book about death, illness and disaster. It's about weak and flawed people becoming unlikely heroes, and it's about Heaven's view on value of human life.
ABOUT THE AUTHORMark Morgans began writing this, his first novel, after being caught up in an unusual series of tragedies. These events convinced him that he needed to write stories about suffering, death and disaster from Heaven's perspective, especially as they relate to ordinary people. He is particularly interested in writing books that inspire his readers to become more than they thought they ever could be, and books that explore Biblical theology in story form.
Mark lives with his wife and two sons in Liverpool. www.markmorgans.com
