Christian books concerning young people are often relayed through the eyes of an adult author. A Boy's Journey contains first-hand stories of a young boy's life and how he deals with the challenges of growing up as a Christian believer written by his own hand. About the Author: Matthew Z Egypt is a member of Mount Vernon Missionary Baptist Church in Creedmoor North Carolina and a high school student of Granville County Public Schools. He is a young born again Christian boy of faith who has grown spiritually over the years. He comes from a family of educators. His great grandmother was Ophelia Settle Egypt (renowned writer, historian, and educator). Nurtured by his parents, Matthew started writing poems and composing songs when he was seven years of age. His skills matured over the years and he began to participate in writing and public speaking competitions. He has spoken at several churches in North Carolina and the Washington, DC Metropolitan area. Matthew receives invitations to various youth functions and community events to speak such as the February 20, 2016 Black Composer's concert sponsored by the Dunbar High School Alumni Federation in Washington DC. He won the Daughters of the American Revolution 7th grade American History Essay Contest for the John Penn local chapter and the 2013 NCSDAR District VI American History Essay. Matthew has competed and won several oratorical competitions. He placed 1st three times in the East Cedar Grove Missionary Baptist Association James F. Wertz Oratorical Contest for District I. Matt was awarded first place for the entire association twice. He has represented the association at the General Baptist State Convention of North Carolina twice; winning third place for the Preparatory Division and competing later this year in the Junior Division. Matthew's grandmother encouraged him to write a book about his experiences to help other young believers know they are not alone in their trials as children growing into adulthood; and to show how he has achieved and overcome obstacles through his faith in God.
