About the Book

Bookends: Between Madness and Grace is a story of Aimee, Bill, Edward and Michael who are trapped in the darkness of mental illness, highly competitive and destructive jobs or in the throes of difficult marital and family conflicts. The protagonists attempt to resolve their personal conflicts yet their choices only to more despair and suffering. The three atheistic men however discover the most unlikely leader-Aimee, Bill's young Christian mentally ill daughter. In her chaotic and often times humorous way, she unknowingly follows the Lord's will and guides all of them out their personal prisons. While on their shared journey, the Lord uses people to redirect their lives towards his love and grace. An African-American care provider answers Bill's lifelong hopes. Edward rediscovering his African American roots is brought on by a momentary encounter with a tender-hearted child street urchin. Aimee's dreams are fulfilled by a suicidal promoter. A brief conversation with an Irish tourist leads Michael half-way around the world to discovery and encounter union and marriage with a loving God. Follow them as they are taunted by despair only to be redeemed by God's blessings which are given freely by the most unsuspecting people...the Lord's chosen.
