About the Book

In the year 2006 the bubble of a tremendous real estate market began to unravel, and when it burst two years later, it all but brought the country down to its economic knees; negatively impacting the global markets, and people's financial lives, not seen since the crash of 1929 and its ensuing economic depression. The author of the "Book of Job in Rhyme" was a victim of this crisis when his promising mortgage business failed and sent him into a downward spiral of humiliation, depression, poverty and economic oblivion. From this experience he began a deep introspective search into his own spirituality, and to question God as to why his prayers were not answered in time to prevent his downfall; He fell down hard, and inevitably, lost all he possessed. His answers came from reading the biblical version of The Book of Job, and it motivated him to witness with his own poetic presentation in modest rhyme. The biblical Book of Job is in itself a long poem, considered one of the finest literary achievements in sacred scripture, and no attempt was made to re-write any part of it. However, the author has interspersed relevant commentary in modest rhyme at strategic points throughout the Book. This is an opportunity for those unfamiliar with the book to learn how to deal with their own suffering and, perhaps, a subsequent reversal of fortune. The main part of the book consists of dramatic dialogue between Job and his three friends who attempt to explain why Job, a righteous man, very pleasing to God, has been attacked with plague-like afflictions by Satan in such a horrific and traumatic fashion. The debate with Job's friends reveals therefore the secret struggles within the soul of the author of the biblical Book of Job, and the conclusion is quite stunning and unexpected. It is a reminder that believers can't get too high on material possessions as it can all be taken away in the blink of an eye to the detriment of their souls. The first poem, "A Test of Faith" reveals the despair and soul searching that has left many of his spiritual questions unanswered. The second poem is in the form of "author's comments" within the sacred Book of Job. The third poem, "Prayerful Lament" reveals an understanding in finality when Michael comes to grips with the reality of what God requires for his salvation, which is a major change in spiritual attitude, tone down his internal anger and bitterness, and lean more on Him, while dealing with his ongoing strife and the struggles that have yet to be resolved. Find out how the message provides a soul saving, life saving solution to the author after losing everything.
About the Author: Michael Soliz is a retired real estate and mortgage broker from Los Angeles. In his new status, he is "re-inventing" himself by entering the world of writing poetry. Poetry is not something that he has ever, in the slightest, entertained until a traumatic split with a girl friend motivated him to express his feelings which, to his surprise, were manifested in a ground-swell of modest rhyme. The effort to express himself in prose deferred to the ease that rhyme unexpectedly afforded him. His first poem was to her who still was in his heart, and thus to get some "closure" by his understanding of the matter, and perhaps to rekindle the relationship. Michael had never written a poem or any type of publication thereof prior to his "semi-retirement", and has no inclinations to learn how to write one. This exercise in rhyme turned out to be merely an outlet to help him deal with the breakup and deal with the subsequent loss of a business, and the futile reality to find employment anywhere. His personal, semi-depressed state that followed, called forth pent up feelings of anger, frustration, and futility that led to expressing them in rhyme, and therapeutically proved an outlet to maintain his sanity. He has no intention of pursuing the protocols of the art, but hoping that the extent of his contributions do result in some modicum of success; even if its only for a bit of justification, redemption and a vote of confidence that fulfills a reasonable expectation of his work. He has written several poems in reference to religion, politics, and personal issues, in his new book "Shaken Stewardship". He has published two editions in rhyme on The Book of Revelation about the second coming of Christ, and his most recent book titled "Virtuous Errors" on the folly of Protestantism; all on Amazon.com.
