About the Book

Surviving a summer of hell defeating brutal alien invaders, David and Anneth Trent return to rebuilding their lives, careers, and family-settling happily into a pleasant life in the northern lake country. But once again, they find themselves thrown into the breach of doom as the Aliens of the Green World return with a vengeance and vicious new plan. Nothing stands in the way of the Aliens hijacking the Blue Planet Earth and wiping every living creature into extinction except the beleaguered Trents and their stalwart friend Sheriff Bill Anderson. Three lonely people. The Aliens take no chances, having learned from their earlier mistakes in attempting to conquer Earth. Unleashing a transgenic neurotoxin, the Aliens lay waste to humankind, leaving billions in a catatonic lassitude or a manic hyper-violent mental state-Dulls and Rads. Because of earlier contact with the Aliens, the Trents and Sheriff Anderson remain unaffected by the toxin, and desperately try to warn everyone of the alien horror creeping through the hedgerows. No one heeds the dire warning, and the three defenders of Earth are ridiculed to the lunatic fringe. The sting of humiliation is brief as the world of humans comes to rapid demise. David Trent stands as the last sentient man on a planet forever dead to mankind, and suffers endless attacks by the violent Rads as he seeks to discover what has befallen his beloved wife Anneth, who failed to return from volunteer work in Colombia at the fateful moment the Aliens released their toxic weapon. But the Aliens have more firepower in their arsenal. Using their vast knowledge of organic chemistry, they biologically reform the violent Rads into recombinant-DNA fusion creatures-Fusioncreats-to assist in converting the Blue Planet Earth into the Green Alien World. The powerful Fusioncreats challenge the lonely Trent to the limits of human endurance as he journeys through post-apocalypse carnage. Despite being outnumbered and overwhelmed, David Trent suddenly finds himself in the middle of an interstellar civil war, and receives help from an unexpected quarter in his battle to keep the inhabitants of the Blue Planet Earth from going quiet into that eternal good night. Bone Shade is the second story in the Trent Saga, which kicks off with the Science Fiction/Fantasy thriller Witch Hazel: A Novel of Interstellar Doom. Coming soon The Trek of Anneth: Book Three of The Trent Saga.
About the Author: ABOUT THE AUTHOR OF THE TRENT SAGA: Born on some indeterminable date during the reign of the last emperor in the bitter wastelands of the Great White North, Neil L. R. Tate has finally found the professional niche that has led him on quest to many exotic locales-writing fiction. The art of fiction requires the author to wear many mantles and delve a great store of knowledge as well as be a jack-of-all-trades baptized in the waters of the world and dried by the cosmic winds of space. Every character that storms, slithers, and slinks into a novel must offer unique qualities of skullduggery, scumbaggery, flaws, virtues, and talents that set her apart from the other denizens within the universe created in the fertile spaces of the author's mind. To achieve the believability and uniqueness that sets forth a great novel, the author must plumb deep the wells of experience, adventure, and imagination. To this end, Tate remains an inveterate world traveler, scuba diver, and private aviator. He has stood on the craters of smoking volcanoes; survived tsunamis, typhoons, and tornadoes; been jolted by earthquakes and jilted by beautiful women; shot at; slashed at, and nearly rolled into smoking aircraft wreckage-through all this mayhem, Tate has kept his sense of humor. These adventures provide a depth of personal experience that enliven and enrich his stories along with wild dreams and rampaging imaginings that give no quarter twenty-four hours a day. Driven to the temperate climes by fierce Alberta Clippers, Tate has a passion for the tropics, palm trees, beaches, scuba dives, tiki bars, airplanes, machinery, firearms, sailboats, cuisine, wine, and all good things and people that make the little blue planet Earth such an exciting and amazing place to hang in this corner of the Universe. Tate has lived extensively in Costa Rica and the Far East, and loves the warm hospitality of Jamaica and the polite beauty of Japan.
