In 1990 Doctor Benny Mizrachi, the Jewish dentist from Cherry Hill, New Jersey, immigrates to Israel, but does not tell the authorities that in the crate marked Medical Supplies is an atomic bomb.
Years before, at the onset of the Six Day war, in the Jabalya refugee camp in Gaza, Mahmud ibn Salim ibn Faruk, at the age of ten, witnesses the horrifying death of his father. Mahmud goes into shock and falls into a long dreamless sleep.
When the Palestinian Sleeper is awakened by the PLO, Mahmud learns that Benny and he is to immigrate to Israel, to deliver an atomic bomb for the cause of liberating Palestine. On October 9, 1990 the atomic bomb is placed on the Dome of the Rock to hold Israel hostage, but is seized by another PLO faction group at the orders of Saddam Hussein, at which time Mahmud escapes to his origins, to Gaza.
In Gaza Lieutenant Colonel Kfir Peled, commander of the elite Israeli Shimshonite Forces, captures Mahmud and learns that a W82 tactical nuclear warhead is on a journey to Tel-Aviv to be detonated.
Mahmud and Kfir, one Palestinian and one Israeli, one the captor and the other the captive, unite to combat the impeding obliteration on 10/11!
The Bomb on the Rock is meticulously intertwined with historical events that actually happened. This story too... may have actually happened.
About the Author: Michael Weiss served seven years as a spokesman officer assigned to the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) Spokesman's Office at the time of the first Intifada- the Palestinian rebellion of popular resistance, in Gaza, from 1987 through 1993. During those years, when called up to Reserve Duty, Michael would drive from the high class, green grass suburb of Raanana, Israel, to the mud infested pits of poverty-stricken Gaza, Palestine.
