An accident on a colonial ship leaves it crippled and drifting through space. The custodial crew of seven have suffered losses and with no way to repair their vessel they must abandon the ship to organize a rescue mission from Homeworld. They leave behind a single crew member to keep watch over the five-hundred-thousand colonists asleep in suspended animation. Left alone, facing months if not years of isolation, a woman set to be the colony's 'master artist' must battle the demons of her past and the despair and loneliness of her present if she is to ever have a future...
About the Author: I started writing many years ago and over the years I've improved (thankfully) and grown in ability and confidence. I started with a simple idea, a simple wish; to be published. That was of course in a traditional and stereotypical way, you know; big book publishers, huge checks, and a dedicated agent who worked tirelessly to get me the most exposure, and perhaps an assistant to bring me tea? That's all good of course, but if that is all that's focused on then I'd never get anything done, instead I'd be staring out of the window, spending the money and answering fan mail in my head. In time I discovered it wasn't the book deal I wanted so much as to be able to work as a writer and make enough; just enough would do. I was happy working on the book, script or project that was sitting in front of me rather than spending the imaginary cash and though it didn't pay it did make me feel more like me. It's writing that is important, and so when my first novel was rejected by agents but was complemented by test readers I decided to just go for it. I came to self publishing, happy to know my work was getting out there and that perhaps someone else would get some enjoyment from the many hours I spent tapping away, converting ideas and dreams into the reality of words on pages and pages into books. So far I've worked on first person narratives and have enjoyed the depth and insight it brings in singular characters and their perspectives on the world around them, as well the people that populate it. I aim to work hard, improve my work, and grow in ability through the years, increasing my output and diversifying through genre and complexity. I am a late thirties man, living in Britain with my wife and seven incredible children. They all keep me very busy, as does my construction based job, but the dream, of course, is be to a full time writer. It's a dream I'm working towards and I get closer to it every year.
