About the Book

The near future, Sal Ravenna, owner of Phoenix Demolitions, New York City, guides his team and family through the perils of their dangerous work, personal difficulties and the darkness that threatens them all. They become caught up in events leading to a full blown invasion of Earth and work together to become capable allies assisting the Earth Carapace Hyper-zone Operations (E.C.H.O.) in challenging the GORGON invasion. The Earth, it is discovered, is the seedbed of life for all existence. Conditions that produced the basis of life were established in this solar system, a specific and unique point in space and time because of the proximity of Earth to the Sun and Moon to the Earth. Due to these conditions Earth provided the original fertile ground were early life could form. The seeds of life produced were then scattered to the stars by the early and numerous violent collisions between rogue celestial bodies and Earth. Bacteria and other simple life forms can travel in a dormant state through the vacuum of space. This is what happened to early life on Earth. It was transported out into space. The cargo, rich with potential, entered rifts in time and space and was cast about spawning other alien life. These seeds found purchase and sustenance in enough places where life could not form elementally but where it could exist and even thrive. These forms evolved faster than life on Earth or were transported to and propagated in the past before our own evolution to self-awareness came to be. Eventually this other life emerged as more technologically advanced civilizations who searched for and discovered the origin planet, a relatively primitive place was found on the outer edges of the universe- Earth. Some of those beings who have been around for so long and who were created from Earth stuff look to protect the original source of being. These benevolent forces are commanded by the VOIDUS an entity, not of Earth, but which came out of the big bang and which is powered by the desire to be in other creatures, particularly human kind. Malicious entities, the Gorgon races, although also of Earth stuff, are bent on dominating and consuming what they feel is their rightful bounty. So here we are, the human condition, a speck on the celestial map, set amongst the magnificence of the Everything. We stand with all our potential, greatness and flaws, but especially in our ability to love and be loved, to mess up and to stand up against adversity. It is true too that the Earth, Sun and Moon dynamic as well as providing the unique setting for the creation of life is the basis of all religion. This interrelationship, and the prejudices and mythologies created by people over time, defines us and is the foundation of how we have interacted as communities, together or divided. It is another piece of the cosmic structure explaining the present circumstance of our attributes and detriments, that struggle set to test our will and which also powers the VOIDUS. There have been great and powerful forces at work molding mankind, sending messages to us through our sages, seers, thinkers and poets. These signals have helped to nurture the origin species forward; informing advances in society and technology. Mankind, unpredictable, irreverent and outrageous- immune to that which would look to corral or halter it but receptive to that which would inspire it receives these cosmic messages and uses them in striving to be free. Ravenna and the Phoenix crew become the center around which events swirl and through who the struggle for these freedoms and for the Earth is manifested. They discover things about themselves and each other which are both surprising and powerful realizations of their potential and responsibility to the survival of life on Earth and throughout the Everything.
