About the Book

Various reasons have been given by diverse people to explain why the black race is below the other races at the different levels of development. Despite a lot of literature proffering many different reasons for this phenomenon, the development gap keeps widening to the disadvantage of the black race. It is either our leaders are not addressing the reasons well enough to provide workable solutions, or the reasons widely accepted by many, are not what we should be concentrating on.This book attempts to look at, and discuss other reasons which are not so widely accepted as the causes of our underdevelopment, and goes on to offer possible solutions for addressing them. The book advocates for a dispassionate and objective mind in discussing these reasons, since some of them are really contentious and highly debatable.Reviews by readers would be very much appreciated, to help us reach some consensus in order to finally effectively address this phenomenon.Long live the Black race, and long live Africa.
About the Author: Michael Kwabena Owusu Appiah is a Ghanaian KPMG-trained Chartered Accountant with over 24 years' e x p e r i e n c e. He h o l d s a B S c administration degree from the University of Ghana, Legon, and an Executive Master's degree in leadership and governance from the Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA) in Accra. After leaving KPMG where he qualified as an Accountant, he worked in the banking industry in Ghana for 14 years. At the bank, he held various management positions from Accountant to Financial Controller to Head of Treasury and finally as Head of Internal Controls. During that period, he was also appointed as an Alternate Director on the Board of the renowned Ghana Broadcasting Corporation. After leaving the banking industry, he entered into Training Consultancy and facilitated various training programmes for blue chip companies like Anglogold (GH), Ghana Cocoa Board and Golden Star Mining Company. Michael K.O. Appiah has extensive global exposure with international corporate entities like Stanbic Group of South Africa, HDFC Group of India, Ghana International Bank of London, The Union Bank of Nigeria, and ABN AMRO Bank of the Netherlands and Ireland, among others. His exposure coupled with his very practical and objective approach to issues, among others, no doubt place him in a good position to adequately tackle the vexed question of why the black race lags behind all the other races, at internationally accepted development levels. He is married with two sons, and a passionate believer in the black man.
