La escritura de "Bitácora Ácrata" (1987-2017) revela un proceso de producción que dura treinta años. En esta última y revisada versión, su autor vierte una vista nueva, madura y reposada sobre las líneas escritas hace tres décadas. El texto de José Navarro es íntimo, sinuoso y lleno de un humor casi trágico, generando identificaciones con una vida que es como la tuya y la mía; que, a su vez, es tan singular e irrepetible como ninguna otra. El texto genera conocer y desconocer al autor, esta bitácora muestra la gran faceta política de Navarro y su gran pasión, que ha sido y es la literatura. Sus escritos dejan entrever treinta años de lecturas y vivencias, de versos, diálogos, ensayos y folletines.El texto nos presenta mitos y personajes del mundo antiguo como Atlas, figuras bíblicas, y el motivo marítimo que guía las diferentes partes de la bitácora -o diario de viaje- inequívocamente nos recuerda las épicas de Homero y a los insaciables poemas marítimos de Neruda y, sobre todo, a Melville... El poema, según el hablante de Navarro, está dedicado a sí mismo, en un claro eco a Walt Whitman. Las permanentes referencias al alcohol, sus efectos y el desenfreno pueden ser un guiño a Bukowski, pero de mayor manera al autor cuyo epígrafe antecede la totalidad de este libro: Edgar Allan Poe.Cercano a nuestro Chile se encuentra la sombra de la Mama, la voz que guía al indiecillo y al cervatillo por todo lo que reconocemos como nuestro, que es la gran Gabriela Mistral, amada y respetada por Navarro, a quien, de forma lenta e implícita, rinde honores a través del poema.Tal como lo hace un cronista extremadamente detallista y sentimentalista, Navarro expresa todo lo que ha pasado por sus ojos, el viaje de la vida y sus diversos quehaceres. El libro es, empero, un manifiesto político. Es importante que tras los innumerables e irresumibles gestos hacia otros autores, vidas y narrativas, se entienda que la reflexión de Navarro es política y es su vida política completa. El zoon politikon que es el autor finalmente le lleva a referirse, tal vez sin querer, al desastre que ha generado el modelo neoliberal, relacionado directamente con el triste y sangriento pasado que ha marcado nuestra patria.
About the Author: José Navarro Barón (1946) es profesor de Biología y Ciencias, Mg. en Biología con mención en Genética. Ha trabajado los últimos 50 años, desde que era estudiante en la Universidad de Chile. En su colilla de sueldo, en el recuadro "Ingreso a la Universidad" dice. 01-04-1967, tenía 21 años. Empezó a militar en la Jota en la ciudad de Copiapó a los 17 años y en el Partido cuando le perdió el miedo a la dictadura, como a los 33 años. Como judío sefardita va irregularmente a la Sinagoga. Ha trabajado en torno a las disciplinas de la Genética y la Evolución en la Facultad de Medicina de la Universidad de Chile. En los últimos años se ha dedicado a la educación en Ciencias. Su larga permanencia en esta Facultad lo ha llevado a dejar en ella su alma y su cuerpo: su alma en el Rincón Cultural Gabriela Mistral, del cual es su Director y a la que ha donado 960 libros, para dejar en su biblioteca sólo los libros necesarios (Borgés) y su cuerpo como Donante Voluntario al Programa de Anatomía y Biología del Desarrollo. Hace ejercicios para mantenerse lo más sano posible y espera que sus estudiantes, cuando lo disecten, exclamen "Oh, qué cadáver más saludable." Su escribir es esporádico (Cf. "A modo de prólogo"), su leer compulsivo...
