Integrating the production of animals and plants can enhance yields of both and improve overall food security and income for rural livelihood. Recent advances in molecular biology, molecular genetics and cell and tissue culture technology have enabled present day biologists to look deep into the intricate web of life. The aim of this book is to present current development in selected areas of Bioresources for rural livelihood covering relevant information from the different fields. This volume is meant to be a comprehensive set of reviews of our existing knowledge in Bioresources pertaining to the aspects of genetics, biochemistry and toxicology. Kulkarni, M. Sc. Ph.D., Sigma ?i,(USA), FAZ, FZSI, FIAES. (Borne: 1950) is the Professor of Zoology (Animal Physiology, invertebrate Endocrinology, Ecology and Environmental physiology & Toxicology), Dr. B. A. Marathwada University, Aurangabad. He had 35 years of research experience with specialization in annelid and crustacean physiology and endocrinology. The subjects he has taught include Comparative Animal Physiology and Endocrinology, Ecobiology, Ecotoxicology & Environmental Physiology, Cell Biology and Biological Chemistry, Immunology and Biotechnology. His other academic credentials include the Ideal Teacher Award from Lion's International, Congress of Zoology Gold Medal from Zoological Society of India, Dr.J.S.Datta Munshi Gold Medal from Zoological Society of India and Indian Academy of Environmental Sciences Gold Medal for outstanding work in Zoology and Environmental Science. He is recognized guide for Ph.D. degree in the Subjects: I) Zoology, II) Environmental Science an III) Interdisciplinary Sciences. 25 students obtained Ph.D. degrees under his guidance on various aspects. He has published, individually and jointly, more than 130 research papers in various reviewed journals of national and international repute and edited 3 books. He has completed 8 major research projects funded by UGC, CSIR, and DST etc. He has traveled widely in connection with International conferences and research work, VISITING Professor also in many universities i.e. U.S.A. Duke Univ., Tulane Univ. of South California, etc. He editorial board and life member in many societies. He is an examiner in more than 30 universities. He is the elected President of Section on Animal, Veterinary and Fishery Science of 97th Indian Science Congress held in 2010 at Kerala University, Thiruvananthapuram. Dr. B.N. Pandey (b 1946), Former Professor and Head, Dept. of Zoology, and Dean, Faculty of Science, Magadh University, Bodh Gaya, Bihar a brilliant academic career. He stood first in first class in both B.Sc. (Hons.) as well as in M.Sc. and was awarded the gold medals. He obtained his Ph.D. degree in the year 1975. he has not been only an outstanding teacher and scholar but a great researcher, for which he has been awarded many honors and awards, which included Congress of Zoology Gold Medal in 1995 & 1998, Dorabjee Tata Gold Medal (2000) and Century Eminent scientists Gold Medal by National Environmental Science Academic, New Delhi, "SIKSHA RATAN Puraskar" in the year-2007 and fellowships of several learned supervised successfully 42 Ph.D. students. He worked as a principal investigator in a number of major research projects funded by I.C.A.R., U.G.C. and D.S.T., New Delhi. He was elected as President, Section of Zoology, Entomology and Fisheries of 83rd Indian Science Congress Association in January 1996. He has the distinction of participating and chairing many national an international seminars and symposia in India (2001-2005). Prof. B.D. Joshi b. 1947 did his Ph.D. (1973) from University of Lucknow. He worked as a lecturer in Hindu College and then Kumaun University. He joined as Reader & Head in the Dept. of Zoological of Gurukula Kangri University, Hardwar, where he became Professor by selection at a young age of 37yrs. Prof. Joshi has acted as Dean of the faculty of Life Sciences for three terms. DSW and Chief Proctor of Univ. and has been Head of The Dept. for about 17 years. Till now he has guided Ph.D. to 28 students and seven more are working under his guidance. He is author / editor of eight books, published till now 201 research papers in journals of international repute, completed 10 Major research Projects UGC, CSIR, MoEnF, UPSCT, etc. He has been co-coordinator of DST FIST and UGC SAP programs of his unit. He has visited countries like England, France, and Finland etc. His contributions on fish pathology & diseases are cited in number of international books. Prof. Joshi has been President of Zoological Soc. Of India for 2005-07. He has been expert member in panels of DST, CSIR, UGC, MenF, etc. He has been honored with Gold medals and Fellowships and citations by ZSI, India
