About the Book

Life was good as he was growing up in a wealthy Missouri family. The son of a Baptist preacher, he demonstrated the desire to follow in his father's footsteps. However, his family's run-in with the union army's militiamen changed everything. Soon thereafter he joined a resistance group against them to pursue vengeance and gravitated toward a life of crime. He is credited as the first bank robber in history, a heinous murderer of union forces, and the most wanted outlaw that ever lived. This is the story of Jesse James.

He was a loyal son, a faithful husband, and a loving father. Despite being shot, he remained determined to fight the unionists. His vocation led him to constantly be on the move, and his reputation began to precede him. He was famous for using the shock-and-awe attack tactics and struck fear in the hearts of his enemies.

He notably forged alliances and expanded his campaigns after an attack that killed his 8-year-old brother and partially maimed his mother. He was also a propagandist, leaving behind leaflets to support his cause on the sites of his attacks. Meet Jesse James and learn what led him to pursue a life of violence and crime.

Here's a preview of what you'll discover in this book:

  • Jesse James' early childhood and family life

  • Desire to pursue his life's calling as a preacher

  • The death of his father and his mother's remarriages

  • The run-in with the union army and change of his destiny

  • Joining resistance against the union army

  • His entry into a life of violence and crime

  • Getting more organized and expanding his campaigns

  • Evading the authorities and his desire to settle down

  • His eventual betrayal and the aftermath

..... And much more!

The name Jesse James evokes a mix of emotions. To some, he is a hero that took up arms against the mighty union army while others deride him as a cold-blooded murderer and criminal. He was, for all accounts, a mastermind who pioneered many attack tactics and dramatically expanded his activities to gain unheard-of notoriety. This book will shed light on the real Jesse James, what defined him to adopt the life that he did, why was he so effective, and how to this day he remains an enigma.
