Die herkömmlichen Bildungsinstanzen können diese Erwartungen kaum mehr erfüllen. Die Jugendarbeit ist nebst der Schule Teil des Sozialisationssystems. Ihre Aufgabe ist somit zusammen mit anderen Akteuren, die Sozialisation und soziale Platzierung der nachkommenden Generation. Die Entwicklungen im schulischen Bereich ziehen deshalb auch Konsequenzen für die Jugendarbeit nach sich. Spätestens seit der PISA-Studie und der Denkschrift des Bundesjugendkuratoriums 2002 wird in zunehmendem Masse auch in der Kinder- und Jugendarbeit über "Bildung" diskutiert. Bildung wird zunehmend nicht mehr nur als Sache der Schule, sondern als Lebensressource verstanden. Gerade deshalb bietet sich die Jugendarbeit an, an der Programmatik zur Bereitstellung von Bildung mitzuwirken. Die Jugendarbeit hat zudem im Gegensatz zur Schule einen engeren und unmittelbaren Bezug zur Lebenswelt der Kinder und Jugendlichen. Dieses Exzerpt bezieht sich auf die Vorlesung (2012) von Professor XY an der Universität Zürich, am Institut für Erziehungswissenschaft, die im Rahmen der Vorlesung im SM9 "Lern- und Bildungsprozesse unter Bedingungen sozialer Ungleichheit - Vertiefung Sozialpädagogik" stattgefunden hat. Die Vorlesung galt dem Thema "Bildung in der (offenen) Jugendarbeit". Im Folgenden soll ein Überblick über die Vorlesung und die Begleittexte, Hornstein und Rauschenbach gegeben werden. Zu Beginn ein "Definitionsversuch" der Jugendarbeit, danach folgen verschiedene Konzepte der Jugendarbeit und schliesslich soll näher auf die Bildungsleistung und die Kriterien von Bildung in der Jugendarbeit eigegangen werden, um im Anschluss die Diskussion über die Jugendarbeit
