About the Book

This Bible-Based Hermeneutics-2nd Edition textbook provides a fundamental orientation to the science of hermeneutics as applied to the interpretation of Scripture. It suggests the need for a more advanced, word-intensive approach (philosophy) in the study of God's Word than has been utilized over the past 250 years. To accomplish this advanced approach, it establishes an advanced procedure (methodology) for determining specific (or technical) word meanings as defined by the Word itself. Bible-Based Hermeneutics is a literal-logical-historical-grammatical hermeneutic that requires and insists upon total scriptural substantiation for both its approach and its methodology. The dominant emphases presented in the text are: 1.The Spiritual nature of God's Word (revelation, inspiration, and illumination) and 2.The fact that God intended His word to be fully comprehended by spiritually alive, spiritually empowered, members of the Body of Christ who are technically-competent in the original languages of Scripture. This textbook was developed by the Foundation for Biblical Research (FBR) whose leadership and academic contributors accept the following assertions as being true: -God is the only true author/originator of all Scripture; thereby providing a unified, unbroken, and consistent message throughout all 66 books (Genesis through Revelation). -The Grammar (morphology, syntax, and linguistic structure) of each book was inspired by God the Holy Spirit working supernaturally through the human writers to produce a precise meaning for every word and passage in Scripture. -Any hypotheses or conclusions in Bible interpretation that have been attained by human systems of reason or fields of human wisdom (such as theology/religion/philosophy linguistics or rationalization) must be subject to scriptural verification as the final test for biblical truth. The 1st edition of Bible-Based Hermeneutics was published as a spiral-bound notebook in 2007. Soon afterward, it was accepted as a Logos product that could be integrated with any of their software programs. Now, this recently published 2nd edition is available for purchase as a perfect-bound textbook and Kindle version from Amazon.com.
About the Author: Mr. Fugate personally accepted Jesus Christ as his Savior by faith in 1968 and was baptized into the Body of Christ at Reinhardt Bible Church in Garland, Texas. He and his wife Virginia have attended various Bible churches when they lived in Dallas, Austin, Phoenix, and Sacramento over the years. Most of their pastors have been graduates of Dallas Theological Seminary. Throughout the past 40 years, he has taught in each of the churches they have attended. Mr. Fugate learned Greek and studied many thousands of hours in the original languages of the Old and New Testament texts. Not relying on existing Systematic Theologies or Bible commentaries, Mr. Fugate performed his own exegesis and word studies to research doctrines that are substantiated by Scripture alone. He founded the Foundation for Biblical Research (FBR) in 1979 "to determine the one true meaning of Scripture based on honest research and a scientifically sound system of Bible hermeneutics." All of Mr. and Mrs. Fugate's books were written based on that type of research. He has authored a series of three, college-level Bible texts which are also available through Amazon.com as well as products that can be integrated with any of the Logos software programs. This series is, Five Facets of the Balanced Christian Life, Vol. I, II & III. He also wrote the popular book, What the Bible Says About Child Training, which has been accepted by many Bible-believing churches as the standard text on Christian child training since 1980. This parenting manual is unique in that the subject is handled solely from a Biblical viewpoint. The author accepts the Bible as absolute truth and infinitely superior to any human system of thinking. He made no attempt in this book to modify God's word in order to make it compatible with human philosophies, psychology, sociology, religious views, or public opinion. What the Bible Says About Child Training has been used successfully by hundreds of thousands of Christian parents throughout the world and has been translated into eight foreign languages so far. Virginia Fugate has also written books based on the BBH method of research. Her books have been used in thousands of Bible studies since 1992. Her latest edition, On the Other Side of the Garden of Eden, is based solely on what God's Word teaches about Biblical Womanhood.
