About the Book

The Bible remains the world's best-selling and most widely distributed book, with nearly nine out of ten adults owning at least one bible; unfortunately, very few of these bible owners have read their Bible in its entirety, and in fact, 2 out of 5 admit to reading their Bible less than once a year. There are likely multiple reasons for this large disparity between owning and reading the Bible, but one major factor might well be that the Bible, as it has evolved, contains a significant number of apparently irreconcilable contradictions which tend to cloud the veracity of those scriptures. Furthermore, once it seems apparent that a significant number of scriptures are questionable, too often it follows that many potential readers begin to doubt the accuracy and trustworthiness of the Bible as a whole. With this problem and these readers in mind, "A Bible You Can Trust" outlines and encourages a practical and spiritual approach for reading, studying, enjoying, and yes, trusting the Bible, even though that Bible may be somewhat imperfect. With all of its apparent imperfections, this author believes and makes a case to show that some 95 percent of the Bible is virtually free of major contradictions and inconsistencies. If one were to give a star rating for consistency, that 95% would equate to 4.75 out of 5 stars, hardly a book that should remain unread by so many Bible owners. By following this pragmatic approach to reading and studying the bible, the reader will find herself able to heed the scripture, "Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge him, and he will direct your paths." (Proverbs 3:5) Remember, the Lord is perfect and thus trustworthy, even though the bible may be somewhat imperfect. By following this approach, the reader will find herself able to fully embrace, enjoy and live 95% of the Bible, rather than neglecting the whole bible out of frustration, thus throwing out the baby with the bathwater. Reading the Bible as outlined in this study will prove to be extremely helpful in enriching and maintaining the truly vital aspects of the reader's faith and walk with God.
About the Author: Theodore Shohfi has long been an ardent Bible reader and Bible lover. His education and experience include Engineering Management, Executive Management Consulting, and College Guidance Counselling, as well as many years as a Pastor and Bible Teacher. In his book "A Bible You Can Trust", he details how his own love for the Bible and personal "walk with God" have been greatly strengthened by recognizing that the Bible, as it has been translated and interpreted, is in fact imperfect. Although thoroughly readable, the book provides important narrative backed by voluminous relevant scriptural references and quotes.
