Forschungsarbeit aus dem Jahr 2011 im Fachbereich Filmwissenschaft, Note: 2,0, Universität Zürich (Seminar für Filmwissenschaft), Veranstaltung: (Forschungs‐)Seminar: "Filme, die etwas bewegen...", Sprache: Deutsch, Abstract: Stanley Kubrick zählt sowohl zu den bedeutendsten und einflussreichsten als auch zu den am kontroversesten diskutierten Filmregisseuren der internationalen Filmgeschichte. Seine filmischen Werke, welche überwiegend zu den Klassikern der jeweiligen Genres und Epochen zählen und größtenteils auf literarischen Vorlagen beruhen, haben nicht nur zu ihrer Zeit Publikum und Kritiker gespalten, sondern stoßen noch heute neben Anerkennung und Bewunderung immer auch auf Negation. Diese unterschiedlichen Rezeptionswirkungen wurden von den meisten Filmen Kubricks auch über die Grenzen der diskursiv-sprachlichen Ebene hinaus geprägt, wobei die spezifischen Handlungen, welche sie auslösten, oftmals nicht nur Resultat der Werke sind, sondern wiederum auch Ursachen für weitere Folgen. Ziel der vorliegenden Arbeit ist es, die jeweiligen Reaktionen auf "Paths of Glory" (USA 1957) und "A Clockwork Orange" (GB/USA 1971) anhand verschiedener rezeptionsorientierter Analyseansätze einordnen und nachvollziehen zu können. Ich werde versuchen zu klären, inwiefern das jeweilige filmische Werk selbst Bedeutung konstruiert, wie die Zuschauer das Werk verstanden haben könnten und wo seitens des Films und der Rezipienten mögliche Auslöser für die kontroversen Reaktionen erschlossen werden können, welche moralisch, politisch oder durch eine differenzierte Auffassung von (Film-) Kunst und Ästhetik bedingt sind. Diese Betrachtung des Werkes und der Lektüre eines theoretischen Zuschauers möchte ich außerdem um die kontextuelle Rezeption erweitern, indem ich historische und soziale Faktoren berücksichtige, welche sowohl die Filmproduktion als auch die Zuschauer und somit wiederum auch deren Reaktionen und Handlungen geprägt haben könnten. ...
