About the Book

Mindy and the other famous softball players have been invited to attend a weekend in Colorado to honor their achievements and to teach some clinics to young upcoming players. Little do they know what dangers will come between them and their loved ones. The pilot comes over the intercom saying that the plane was struck by lightning but there is nothing to worry about. It may be my imagination, but he sure sounds worried to me. The next fifteen minutes seems to take forever in some ways and in other ways it seems like a few seconds. I know most of us are praying. I am looking out the window at where we are going. Again the mountains are beautiful and now I am more afraid of them than at any time I can ever remember. The plane seems to be racing ahead like it is a living thing trying to escape the storm that is raging outside. I am looking out the window at the propellers turning and I see first one than another one stop turning, that can't be a good sign. The pilot comes over the intercom and tells us we may have to set the plane down so he wants us all to make sure we are securely fastened into our seats and says we may wish to put our heads between our knees and hold onto our legs. I am really frightened now, not for myself but I selfishly want to see my family again more than anything in the world right now. I am not sure they can go on without their mommy and Eddie without me. I know I wouldn't want to go on if something ever happens to Eddie. I am looking out the window and I see what looks like a huge bear that is part of the mountain range. I am praying and trying to tell Eddie and the children how much I love them when the plane crashes into the trees. The phone rings so I don't get a chance to wake them up quite yet, but the call is from the lady, she says the plane left on time and maybe even a few minutes early. She gives me the flight information and tells me if there is anything she can do please don't hesitate to call her again. I assure her I won't and I start to call the airport to get the flight information when Toni and Carrie come out of the bedroom and they are both crying. I put the phone down and pick them up and sit on the couch to hug and comfort them. I tell them Mommy will be home soon and then we will all feel better. "No she won't Daddy, the airplane Mommy and the others are on just crashed into the mountains." Toni is really upset so Carrie starts telling me what they fear. "Both of us saw it plain as day Daddy, there was lots of lightning and it hit the airplane then the engines quit running and it crashed. Mommy is really scared, so are we. Can you go get Mommy, Daddy? We need her to be home with us." I ask them if they saw anything else in their dream. "We saw a huge mountain that looks like a bear on one side of the plane and big mountains on the other side. Everyone is hurt Daddy you have to go help them now or it may be too late." Join Eddie, Mindy and the rest of their best friends as they face some of the greatest challenges of their lives together.
