Einleitung Im Zusammenhang mit der Leseförderung im Unterricht behaupten viele Lehrerinnen und Lehrer, dass es für sie einerseits aus zeitlichen Gründen, andererseits aus Gründen unterschiedlicher Lesefähigkeiten und der fehlenden Lesemotivation der Schüler, nicht möglich wäre in der Klasse ein ganzes Buch zu lesen; deshalb beschränken sie sich nur auf knappe Sach- und "Gebrauchstexte aus dem täglichen Leben", um die Leseflüssigkeit und das Textverständnis ihrer Schüler zu fördern. Ein weiteres Problem stellen die verschiedenen Interessen der Schüler dar (vgl. Hintz 2009, 63). Viele zweifeln sogar daran, dass das Lesen von Büchern tatsächlich eine effiziente Weise der Leseförderung darstellt. Doch spätestens seit dem PISA-Schock im Jahr 2001 gewinnt der Vorsatz der Lese- und Texterschliessungsförderung im Literaturunterricht an Bedeutung (vgl. Leubner et al. 2010, 34). Im Jahr 2000 wurde die Lesekompetenz 15-jähriger Schüler von 31 Staaten getestet, wobei Deutschland unterdurchschnittlich schlechte Resultate erbrachte (vgl. Abbildung 1 im Anhang). "Kaum ein Bildungssystem einer vergleichbaren Industrienation produziert so viele schwache und sehr schwache Leser wie Deutschland, und kaum irgendwo ist der Zusammenhang zwischen Leseleistung Schichtzugehörigkeit und formaler Schullaufbahn so eng wie hier." (Rosebrock 2008, 175) Dabei stechen ebenfalls die schlechten Lesekompetenz-Resultate der schweizerischen Schüler ins Auge; sie befinden sich auch deutlich unter dem OECD-Durchschnitt, wenn auch mit ein wenig besseren Ergebnissen als die deutschen Schüler (vgl. Abb. 1).
