La serie es un compendio de la historia de Medellín, contada en capítulos cortos, en los que se cuenta el origen y devenir de los sitios, personajes, calles, barrios, iglesias, cementerios, monumentos, museos y en general todo lo que ha sido representativo de la ciudad y que las viejas generaciones recuerdan con nostalgia y las nuevas, ignoran sin culpa. Las crónicas, escritas sobre rigurosas y diversas fuentes históricas, -producto de una concienzuda investigación- recrean la Medellín de los siglos XIX y XX con un lenguaje, que aunque claro, se vale de la metáfora, la poesía, el humor negro, la ironía, la mordacidad y los giros coloquiales, para darle el tono humano, cálido e íntimo de la tradición oral paisa.

Uno siempre se encarta a la hora de agradecer, pues cualquier obra del ser humano, sólo es posible con el concurso de todos. Finalmente deseo agradecer eternamente a Crisanto Alonso Vargas "Vargasvil", quien siempre me respaldó y fue el responsable de la primera edición.

La Bella Villa es una relación de las historias de sitios, barrios, edificios, colegios, calles, personajes, hechos, tradiciones y costumbres de la Villa de Nuestra Señora de la Candelaria de Medellín, esa aldea, que enclavada entre dos montañas y por lo tanto aislada del mundo, los antioqueños, transformaron en la capital industrial de Colombia, con paciencia, tesón y pujanza.
