Life is as we see it. We can choose to focus on adverse conditions, and pain, or we can focus on joy and beauty. In the case of Nita Holyfield-McGee, she chooses to see the good in all circumstances.
The Beautiful Glass Doors is a collection of poems, commentaries, inspirational quotes, and gems of wisdom reflecting Holyfield-McGee's moving interpretation of life. Her lyrical poems mirror the works of Emily Dickinson, Maya Angelou, and Joyce Kilmer, while her inspirational quotes offer hope when confronted with the inevitable obstacles we face through life.
As optimistic as Holyfield-McGee is, she isn't blind to frustration and social injustice. Influenced by her career as a social worker, her commentaries deal with serious issues and the consequences we will face if humanity cannot change. Rounding out the collection, her "wise sayings" reflect how mistakes and missteps are really opportunities to gain wisdom.
Part poetry collection, part down-to-earth advice, and part social commentary, Holyfield-McGee's writing defies easy categorization. She herself believes we are put on this earth to fulfill a specific purpose. Sixty years in the making, The Beautiful Glass Doors reflects part of the plan God had for Holyfield-McGee.
