About the Book

AUTHOR SYNOPSIS "The Gatekeeper" by S.D.P.A. Mason-CorkeryBrian, a young zookeeper, trapped in the zoo with a few animals, is scared, alone and holds no hope for the future. His life and sanity are spiralling downwards. He knows nothing of the outside world and in isolation starts a trip into insanity. After two devastating Events that wiped out at least three quarters of all life. Into his life through almost fatal circumstances, when a generator explodes, comes the 'Old Man'. The Old man brings the young man through these bad, sad, times with lessons of hope and of a way to live in this not-so-brave world. Sharing stories of love and hope and showing what motivated the men, we get to see that love and hope no matter what, can always shine through.Throw into the mix two tigers (one just a few months old), a pack of dogs, and other assorted beasts we as readers get to face real life and death situations with consequences; and witness the birth of two legends (or maybe three). We see life and death and the struggles of ourselves in these creatures. However there is a new evil that has appeared as well as the ones in the head. The thoughts and how to stop them from destroying a mind is key. But how to stop a killer that is air-born and brings a slow death and an enhanced supernatural killer-instinct to all predators, except for one. So how to go about catching the killer you cannot see and has the whole world in its snare? Megan, the young tiger becomes hunter and through the death of her mother has a score to settle. At least that is how the 'Old Man' sees it.The reality that the Old Man and the young Brian must go their separate ways soon sets in as the 'Old Man' prepares the younger for a future and a new way of life that means he continues to be the zookeeper but also becomes the gatekeeper of his own mind. The two go their separate ways and the story has just begun. This hopefully is the start of a series of five books known as 'Beachwolf' - these will include: 1.'Beach-Wolf': This follows the adventures of the Old Man, his "adopted" baby daughter with Megan the Tiger acting like a surrogate mother. Their story finds itself within a a Neo Fascist political movement that could potentially destroy everything. Even after the 'Event' things still have the basic fight for good and evil2.'Leviathan': The 'Old Man's' daughter now 19 joins up with an old rustic sea captain on an old rusty ship in a deadly maritime cat and mouse game, with the biggest and most powerful ship of all time that moves and strikes like a Serpent. How can David take on Goliath? 3.'Centipede': 49 men and 'The Beach-Wolf' have one job: - to take down the leadership of evil and release those wrongly collected for a cause that will breed world-wide destruction. Meet 'The Beast', an amalgamation of Lion, Bear and Man and the doctor who created him. Evil consequences are much bigger than we realise.4.'Gate Keeper: Gate Closed Shut': An unexpected visitor listens as the older Gate Keeper looks back over the exploits of his life; he reflects on his story regarding those he met and those he lost, his successes and his failures.
