Coni mène une existence paisible dans sa petite ville de Sartène, en Corse-du-Sud. Mais à l'âge de 16 ans, il est le témoin involontaire du meurtre de son père, agriculteur sans histoires, tué sous ses yeux. A l'enterrement, Coni se jure de le venger.Son oncle Gino, ancien membre du Milieu retiré des affaires et revenu s'installer sur sa terre natale, le convint de le laisser faire, lui expliquant que son jeune âge est un handicap et qu'il doit plutôt veiller sur sa famille. Coni retourne à sa vie tranquille.Mais à vingt ans, alors qu'il a retrouvé le sommeil, il apprend que des membres de la bande qui ont tué son père sont encore en vie. Il se convint de mener la Vendetta. Son oncle Gino, qui sait qu'il ne parviendra pas à le convaincre cette fois-ci, lui explique qu'il ne pourra le faire que de l'intérieur, en intégrant le monde du crime.Coni part donc pour le continent et rencontre des personnalités du Milieu que son oncle lui a indiqué. Il arrive à Paris et intègre la French Connection, en pleine expansion, qui fabrique de l'héroïne pour l'exporter aux Etats-Unis. Il devient passeur de drogue et parvient à retrouver quatre amis des assassins de son père. Il en élimine trois et parvient, grâce à son intelligence, à gravir les échelons.Nous sommes en 1970. Les années ont passé et Coni est maintenant le chef d'un réseau de passeurs. Il s'enrichit et commence une vie bourgeoise aux côtés de la femme qu'il a pris pour épouse. Mais les américains pressent les autorités françaises de lutter plus efficacement contre le trafic d'héroïne et les membres de la French Connection. Dès lors, la lutte contre le trafic d'héroïne s'amplifie et aboutit à la fin de la French Connection.Coni est arrêté en 1975 et incarcéré à la prison des Baumettes. Sa femme mettant au monde son premier enfant, il se met en tête de s'évader et y parvient. Il fuit la France et se réfugie au Brésil où il achète des terres et s'installe comme fermier. Il y reste de nombreuses années tout en continuant ses activités criminelles et en faisant des voyages incessants entre le Brésil et la Corse.Le jugement des membres de son réseau le voit condamné à 17 ans de prison. Mais comme il est en fuite, son dossier est classé en attendant son arrestation. Le délai de prescription de trois ans passe sans qu'il soit rejugé. Sa peine de prison de 17 ans se transforme en dix ans. Il lui faut attendre que ce délai passe pour pouvoir rentrer en France.Coni revient en Corse en 1985. Il s'installe à Sartène où il mène des affaires légales lui permettant d'acquérir une notabilité lui valant le titre de Parrain de Corse-du-Sud. Mais en parallèle, il continue ses activités criminelles, mêlant trafic d'héroïne et de cocaïne.Il s'active pour que son territoire reste un sanctuaire, imposant son autorité à ceux qui veulent s'y implanter, alors que l'activisme des indépendantistes rivalise avec ceux qui vivent d'activités criminelles, comme le racket des commerçants et l'implantation de machines à sous.Il mènera cette existence jusqu'en novembre 2006, date où il mourra dans un mystérieux accident de voiture.
