"Wir wollen mit der Musik, die wir machen, die Menschen davon überzeugen, dass sich alle Menschen von ihren Unterdrückern befreien müssen" erklärt Rio Reiser, Frontmann der Band Ton Steine Scherben 1970 in einem Interview. Die Band hatte sich kurz zuvor im West-Berliner Stadtteil Kreuzberg gegründet, im Zeichen der aufgeheizten Atmosphäre des Konflikts zwischen verschiedenen gesellschaftlichen Gruppen. Mit ihrem selbst erfundenen Musikstil Agit-Rock und Titeln wie "Macht kaputt was euch kaputt macht", "Ich will nicht werden was mein Alter ist", "Wir streiken" oder "Der Kampf geht weiter" entwickelten sich in kurzer Zeit zu Hymnen von Hausbesetzern, politischen Aktivisten und Kulturrebellen. Der genaue Blick auf Ton Steine Scherben legt eine ungewöhnliche Mischung aus künstlerischer und Lebensradikalität frei: Als Teil der West-Berliner Gegengesellschaft lebten sie in Kommunen, beteiligten sich an Demonstrationen, Solidaritäts- oder Protestaktionen und standen in Kontakt mit Personen aus dem Umfeld der APO, Bewegung 2. Juni und RAF. Konzerte endeten oft in Hausbesetzungen, ihre Kommune wurde regelmäßig von Polizeikommandos gestürmt. Die Türen ihrer Wohn- und Arbeitsräume standen jedermann offen, gemeinsam hat man musiziert, diskutiert oder Drogen konsumiert. Die Bandmitglieder verstanden sich als Teil einer revolutionären Bewegung, deren politische Ausrichtung dem Kampf gegen Unterdrückung, Unfreiheit und Ungerechtigkeit dienen sollte, vor allem in ihrer direkten Umgebung in Kreuzberg/West-Berlin. Aber wie sollte die politische Arbeit einer Musikgruppe aussehen? Wieso verbreiteten sich ihre radikalen, schlagwortartigen Parolen blitzartig durch den deutschsprachigen Raum? Wie traten sie wofür ein, mit welchen Inhalten, Zielen und Methoden? Aus welchem Grund stieg die Band abseits klassisch-wirtschaftlicher Strukturen in kürzester Zeit zu einer der bekanntesten westdeutschen Gruppen auf - ohne Plattenlabel oder Vermarktungsstrategie? About the Author: Florian Tobias Kreier ist Kulturaktivist, Musiker, Autor und Journalist. Der gebürtige Chiemgauer studierte in München Politologie, Philosophie und Literaturwissenschaften, widmete sich aber hauptsächlich seinem Steckenpferd Musik und sah die Universität deshalb eher selten von innen. Stattdessen arbeitete er für Stadtmagazine und Radiosender, trat mit verschiedenen Bandprojekten in halb Europa auf und veranstaltete Kulturhappenings, Konzerte und Festivals. Momentan ist Florian Kreier Mitglied der on3-Musikredaktion des Bayerischen Rundfunks, Herausgeber des Magazins für Fotografie und Literatur "DER GREIF" und veröffentlicht unter verschiedenen Pseudonymen Musik und Literatur.
