About the Book

Ballbelina Tambelina your name Is Silly!, is a children's picture book that shares the feelings and thoughts of a 6 year old girl. The story book emphasizes the concerns of little Ballbelina, while talking with her mother, about being teased by her peers at school. She becomes sensitive to the point that she cries. Ballbelina has been teased and made fun of her name by some children at her school. It is also the case that her close friends are teased as well. They are teased for their sense of style, appearance and different names. Ballbelina feels at ease and comfortable talking about her emotions with her mother. Ballbelina is accustomed to her mother's comforting company while listening to her. Ballbelina's mother has concerns for her daughters emotional well being and behavior. She is paying attention for the warning signs that her child is being bullied. Mother Tambelina encourages her daughter Ballbelina by letting her know that she is brave, strong and smart. She also has a beautiful name, and has other friends that are loving and caring. Therefore Ballbelina is a fortunate 6 year old girl. At times it is troubling that young children don't always tell or share what happens at school and how they may be teased or bullied by other children. It is emotional and they may be reticent to bring that feeling home. Bullying is behaving meanly to another child. Bullying, over and over again has consequences. The fact is if it is not discussed considerably then the bullied child may suffer. Bullying comes in many ways of intimidation and different forms. Bullying may occur anywhere. Children do suffer from it. Ballbelina loves to play with her friends. She and her friends are experiencing the harsh treatment of them by other children at school. They are attempting to hold on and handle the teasing and the bullying of other children at school in a healthy ways. The objective of the story is to share one child's story of being bullied, and how positive outcomes come from sharing and talking about it. It is also inspiring when friends stick together and form a comradeship. The story gives children the opportunity to learn about their strengths and their awareness of the interaction process with each other. Children best learn when they are involved in the learning process. For this to happen helping, guiding and facilitating the possibilities for the child is essential by preparing a safe environment where they may be able to feel safe. The story in many ways is whimsical! The story is informative and educational. Children will naturally relate to the story The information is drawn and presented based on concrete knowledge and learning processes. Children learn while they are directly involved and children are the bright future and the hope of human kind. Listening to one child's story helps her/him to overcome any concerns. Bullying is not funny. Bullying should stop!
